Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been slammed for arriving in Townsville for a “photo-op” on Anzac Day and leaving “about 15 minutes” later.
Shadow Assistant Defence Minister Phillip Thompson joined Sky News host Chris Kenny to discuss the Prime Minister’s Anzac Day visit to Townsville.
“In this nation’s most sacred day, we expect the Prime Minister of Australia, if he is coming to Townsville - the largest garrison city - the capital of the Australian Army, that he spend some time here,” he said.
“Talks to soldiers, talks to veterans, not walk around for a photo-op and leave.
“The Prime Minister spent about 15 minutes in Townsville, walked around the RSL and then left - got a few boos and then he was gone.”
