Driving by, we spotted a sign on the precinct fence, (NOPD shirts for sale)...and took a foto. Then posted it, saying, "Need a Cop? Gotta wait. Need a tee-shirt? Walk right in - we got 'em at the front desk." Someone took offense because i DARED to tell it like it was. Now, they have hired an NYPD brass guy to come down here and try and fix things. While I think hard times call for tougher measures, I am (as a 7 decades NYer now living in the FQ) not sure that same approach will work in the Easy. But, we shall see...

In the UK no civilians , including private Investigators, security guards, and bodyguards, are permitted to routinely carry firearms or other offensive weapons, concealed or otherwise. That covers firearms, tasers, CS Sprays, sharpened sticks, baseball bats; anything that can be used as a weapon.I wonder what the UK cops would do if they saw someone walking down the street with some very sharp pencils.😉 Note that the definition of an offensive weapon depends on context. If found walking down the road with a baseball bat, you can be prosecuted if you can’t reasonably demonstrate that you are, for example, on your way to play baseball. On the other hand, you may witness an individual with a 12-bore shotgun (in a case) strolling through central London - because he’d just come from a gun shop, and would be fine as a licence holder transporting his gun. Now, to be clear, UK citizens do own firearms (rifles and shotguns mostly), but their storage and transport is licenced and regulated and would need justifying to the police if you were stopped (self-defence is not a justification in UK law). Possession of a handgun = 5 years mandatory prison. Northern Ireland is the exception, because of the history of terrorism-related violence that means individuals can find themselves targeted for political reasons. (Prison officers, for example). Overseas Law Enforcement would also not be permitted to carry weapons, as they’re out of their jurisdiction and wouldn’t know UK tactics, so would be an unpredictable liability in a firearms incident. If they’re working, they’d be expected to be doing so in cooperation with UK police, who would provide firearms officers if needed. UK street cops are not usually armed (There are exceptions, such as in Northern Ireland), but all UK forces have specially trained firearms teams on quick response if needed (in the event of a firearm showing up, UK police go straight from ‘zero’ to ‘SWAT’ and show up with overwhelming force).

I like it and don't like it, sure the wealthy has all types of guns, for self defense and is the only way I would choose to live in the UK. However, living in a place where there is no need for guns as self defense would be ideal, I'd love it
@EddieLeal

@@blackreacher The wealthy also hire professional private protection. Sadly, these places are difficult if not impossible to find in today's society. And by some miracle even if a utopian type community like this existed most people would not be able to afford these communities. There are no absolutes in life. Everything is mutable. Incidents of gun violence have occurred in areas of society where it had not existed before. At least not at the level we see today. The break down of family values, hime support system as well as a disturbing increase of mental illness have contributed to some of these critical issues. Use of illicit drugs/alcohol , abuse of prescription medication have also had a toll on people ability to properly manage stress/life problems. Instead of using more constructive methods to deal with problems some people tend to seek refuge in chemicals/self destructive behavior. Until we fix our social/economic issues we will continue to see an uptick in crime/gun violence.

Imagine all the things you can do in that much time Where I lived in NY, 90 minutes was typical But that was 10 years ago And here is the kick to the teeth I received the call and I drove from where I was and I was about 5 minutes away and on my drive I passed 8 police cars doing radar in eight different spots in a 2-mile stretch and I know they all received the call because my radio received the call and they all had the same frequency that I had in my radio and not one of them responded to a code 2 call They all stayed doing radar After I got home and made sure everything was secure I called the security company and canceled the call 45 minutes had passed and I proceeded to unload the car and went about my normal routine in the house and 45 minutes after that I came out my front door to an officer just pulling up and asked if I was the one who called in and I said are you just responding now to the call and he said yes and I said I canceled it 45 minutes ago and the call came in 90 minutes ago and I passed you on my way here an hour ago I couldn't believe it was this bad What I found out next I still have not recovered from Each day they have court and they collect 1.5 million dollars in a town of 30,000 people for traffic violations like speeding If no one were to drive a month so that there was no way to write tickets the town would default and be bankrupt And what's worse is they don't plow the roads during the winter or salt or do maintenance on the roads and I know their salaries to be paid which are pretty high I mean a quarter million dollars a year high but when you're bringing in 10 million dollars a week in fines, that's half a billion dollars a year Where is all the money going ? There isn't anything like an urban city would have There are retail stores and restaurant chains, but there isn't anything that is town run that would need money There was a town in a very rural part of the state near the Pennsylvania border and they had a situation like this and they managed to get on the ballot to eliminate the police department and it passed and they fought it and three more times and Court battles and they finally did eliminate the police department and a week after they shut down the police department the crime went way up and it was destruction of property and people had security cameras and they caught on the cameras that it was the police that no longer had jobs throwing Molotov cocktails into the businesses and damaging vehicles and spraying Nazi graffiti around town None of them were ever arrested It was on the news, but they were not ever arrested That's what makes law abiding people dislike the police NY is one of the worst states for using police for revenue collection

@ocsrc
Жыл бұрын
@@chuckruckus3648 I hesitate to go in to detail, but not all calls are false, and I am not a bad person, but many people are. I used to be very inquisitive and wanted to see a lot of places that were not public. I was not alone. One of the guys who was in a wheelchair wanted to see the forests and would go on the fire roads and the police gave him tickets. The rules said you could hike or bike the trails, even snowmobile, but not drive a car on them. If he was able to walk and was driving on the trails that would be different. Guys were magnet fishing in a creek and the road they were on ran through a military base. They pulled up over 40 active missiles, grandes, and other military artillery. They called the military. Did they thank the guys. No, they arrested them. A railfan was trespassing and taking photos and saw a rock slide and radio'd the train dispatch and the train that was approaching was able to stop. Had the railfan not been there and contacted the dispatcher the tank train would have slammed into the boulders at 60 mph. Did they say "thank you", or have a press conference and commend his actions ? No, they arrested him. The railroad police arrested him, the state police arrested him and the FCC arrested him People see that, and they won't do the right thing and call for help and prevent disaster. I have seen this. I have seen when people who could have stopped something horrible, a crime, a disaster, and they didn't, because they knew that they would get all sorts of trouble for being a good person. What keeps me up at night with panic attacks is knowing that the delay allows people who would do something unspeakable to get away with their crime. And the good people are afraid to get involved because they wind up getting in trouble. We have so many unsolved cases and I knew details about some of them and the police never revealed the information or warned the public and more people became victims The cult that was just taken down in upstate NY, I am pretty sure that the 24 women who were never found were abducted by them. I didn't know anything about them. Neither did anyone else. If the police had given information to the public, maybe those women would not be missing and dead. Because they keep all the information just among a very small group, no one else who might have seen something even knows what they might have seen. When I first moved there we had a rapist running loose and they never reported any of the rapes to the public and the guy was never caught. They were worried about the property values and they were building expensive homes and wanted them to sell and sell for the maximum amount. Back then the communications were analog and the digital data was not encrypted. Now, EVERYTHING is encrypted Back then I was selling two-way radios and programming them and selling scanners and I would program in all the frequencies and CTCSS tones and label the channels and I gave them lists of each channel and who it was. The State Police came to my store and told me to stop doing that. They also made me turn off the radios in the store. No surprise, I was bankrupt a year later. You can't hear any police calls now. Even with all the encryption they still give very little information via voice. They use the MDTs 99% of the time. We had a guy with a gun that was planning an attack and luckily the police were tipped off, and we saw helicopters and there were about 50 police cars blocking every road, but no one knew what was going on. Someone leaked the information the next day after they arrested the guy and the public safety media relations was trying to find out who leaked the information That is the norm now The dangerous criminals are not reported to the public and if there is a leak, all resources are devoted to find the person who leaked the information It makes people not trust the police, at a time when we need the police to get as many people on their side as possible. If a Civil War happens, the police are going to need the good people to be willing to put their lives on the line and tell them everything they know. I am really worried that the 43% may attack the rest of us because they actually believe we are the devil.
