By far, this is the greatest place to sharpen your rock climbing skills. I have spent many many hours climbing here. Easy to set up with minimum gear.

Didn't know this was a rock climbing spot. That's pretty cool. I've only seen people scramble to the top. Beautiful views.

Pretty cool, scrambling up to the top of that. I really like the long-distance view of Mount Hood from there. Beautiful.

I always enjoy a good scramble. It's a great hike to get awesome views of the eastern side of the Columbia River Gorge. Amazing how the landscape is so different.

Looks great Steve, I've never heard of Horsethief Butte before. I've been thinking of a little trip to Cottonwood Canyon State Park & this would be a cool side trip. Not sure how much my pup would like that scramble up to the top though.

It would be a nice stop to check out. The scramble up isn't too bad. nothing dangerous. But if your pup can't make it then you have a nice trail that goes around the butte. Either way you're going to get some nice views.

@@PacificNWHiker Thanks. I did the Silver Star Mountain hike in September (awesome views!) and we hit the Indian Pits too and she did great although I did have to lift her at one point when she refused to scramble up herself. 👍

@@TOMinPDX That's awesome. I have Silver Star Mountain on my list. May have to do that one next year when the skies open back up again.

I like heading out to the eastern side of the Gorge every now and then and get that different terrain. It's a short rock scramble up but any rock scramble is fun.

@@PacificNWHiker I love the terrain out there it's amazing, little break from all the green.

@@nwsights6301 Exactly. I've noticed the eastern side to be a bit more sunnier with clearer skies than central and western but always way more windier. It's great to have access to both types of terrain.
