No other games in existence have the same atmosphere as Gothic 1 and 2. I can´t even put it into words. The game is dark, it is gritty, it is authentic. The exploration of the game world is so interesting. It is not that big, but it feels huge, since there are many areas which you can see from afar (like Xardas´ tower) that you can only explore later in the game because they are blocked off by strong enemies. Some areas you revisit and they feel different each time. Each orc and minecrawler scares the hell out of you.The game design is just absolutely unique, in my opinion.

i still remember this coming on and you trying to get inside the castle without being eaten alive. and then you meet the bandit who suggests sticking to the river and then making a run of it. then making a run of it and actually making up the trebuchet. i mean its trivial on replays but the first time it seemed impossible.

The field raider taunting then approaching you... that still scares me even now lol. Also the orc battlecry, the first seeker encounter, the skeletons, meeting Atilla, BROMOR's english voice, zombies death sound, minecrawlers.. the templars turning mad in G1. I love Gothic so much but it really scarred me for life experiencing some of these things as a kid.
