Food for thought in the interest of "keeping it real". Heat Pumps in EVs are more efficient. Rivians and Fords do not have heat pumps. When Rivian and Fords adopt heat pumps, our beloved large frunks will be greatly reduced (a trade-off that WILL happen). Brands/vehicles with heat pumps are: Nissan, Chevy (GM), Toyota Prius HEV (that surprised me), BMW, Audi, Tesla, Porsche (part of VW Group), Skoda (VW group), Hyundai Group (including R1S' direct competition the EV9), and Jaguar (Tata Motors).

Yes heat pumps are good my 2022 tesla model 3 performance has one. tesla gets packaging right the heat pump system is alien technology and it still has a nice sized frunk but there will be a learning curve for all others.

@@keenanjeff Yes, reducing the size of the heat pump is important as Tesla does. Also, using safe refrigerant is important (I have researched that also) but that pertains to all vehicle (ICE) air conditioners and refrigerant used in EV batteries. Thanks for you comment. I LOVE that you have a Tesla and a Rivian. I considered a Tesla model Y (due to the cheap price) but it was too big and I got an Ioniq 6 for 38K. Love it so far. The Ioniq 6 heat pumps takes up the whole frunk pretty much but its fine because its strictly a commuter car (30miles a day). Hubby LOVEs his R1T.

It is also important to replace the cabin air filters on these vehicles yearly it can effect the entire heat pump system I changed both the rivian and tesla to HEPA filters.

@@keenanjeff I did not know that. Thank you!!! I will ask my husband to do that. He is an HVAC Contractor but he doesn't know a lot about EV HVAC situations. We have a heat pump water heater though.
