This thing is cool AF and I want one, but I bought like a dozen retro handhelds this last year plus the steam deck, so I prolly need to chill out for a year or two and wait for something that’s a really big step up.

Awesome content dude, you are the culprit of me getting the win 3 and now the win max 2.... thanks :P also will yo do a tutorial on how to set and modify the TDPs on the Max 2? or are we still using the .bat files like with the Win 3?

2:17 2x resolution means 960p in those 2 games (even a little higher in GoW), and not 720p.

I'd like to see how games run on the microsd card. I remember you doing tests on the steam deck and the results were pretty remarkable. I wonder if the results would be similar on the max 2

I hope PCSX2 devs can finally fixed that weird smearing it almost looks like the same assets are on top of each other and the second asset is faint but makes it look blurry. The best example of what I’m talking about that has this is GTA 3.

Seems like PCSX2 is less efficient or it's basically the x86 architecture (most probably the later) that it requires 12W at 2X res, because my S20 FE 5G with Snapdragon 865 can do 2x with Burnout 3 on AetherSX2 and most definitely SoC package power doesn't go over 5-6W. Do note it throttles after a while due to overheating, so 60fps can be managed long term with active external cooling only.

Yeah, I'm quite shy to say ARM SoCs are so much better now. Been asking for the battery life on this one as well. Finally hear from this video.
@13JacksonMr
Жыл бұрын
Yeah that's the trade off. It'll start thermal throttling without cooling. And also it depends on the power draw because x86 is still a bit different than ARM in terms of power have or needed.

I did notice occasional screen tearing even though the fps was locked at 60, is that just a psx2 thing on this device? Or is that present elsewhere as well? Thanks for your vids Phawx! ✌️

Still considering buing Win Max 2. But I'm very curious how 720p/800p look on this screen compared to native 800p Deck screen. Clarity, sharpness, etc. For games, we have a stronger GPU than the Deck, but not strong enough to be able to play with the same settings as on the Deck, but in FullHD.

Lol you're obsessed with finding ways not to use hardware to it's full ability. I mean, its your stuff, so you can do what you like, but I just think spending $1000+ on a high-powered x86 portable gaming device to play games at 480p like you can do on an efficient ARM smartphone that costs half that price or less seems kind of pointless. I get you get to have a very long battery life, but are you really going to be spending more than a couple of hours sat gaming while you're away from an outlet? Idk, maybe someone can explain to me what I'm missing here. Edit: Also, usecases where you need 5 hours of battery life - if you're spending $1000+ on something like this, why not spend another $50 on a battery bank?

Here I'm thinking "Yeah, maybe this thing can last a good chunk of the way on a flight from New York to Japan" as a way I could see myself benefiting from it. Then I read this dumb comment and I'm like lol Just because you can't envision anything past your immediate observation of your own use case, doesn't mean this isn't going to fulfill the needs of others and their own use cases. Not everyone has your kind of shortsightedness and lack of imagination.
