GPZ1000RX from 1988, 28000km, start, walkaround and rev. Detail video, showing some minor scratches on the fairing and showing the general condition in detail.
Best bike I have owned in 50 years of riding. I still have an 87 GPZ1000RX & a 86 GPZ900R.

Had one of these exact same colour 1987 model, she was with me for 12 years. I had done so much work on her in that time I could change the head gasket in under an hour. What a riding experience that was pick a line in a corner and that was it there was no changing your mind half way through,she was a heavy bike that's for sure. The day I picked her up the guy said watch the weight in corners she's heavy and it will catch you out,I didn't listen and it did the first tight corner I came to ended up on the opposite side of the road. Lesson learnt.

Looks better, more streamlined, higher top end Punch than a 900R, fatter rear tyre and has a great duct tail. Very underrated model, the bike of the my dreams since seeing one in 1988 as a 18 year old kid. Pick up a mint 18,900Km black 1987 example in Mar 2023 after advertising for 12 months. Straight off the showroom floor after being in a Collection for Decades, couldn't be happy and now kept in my lounge room in between country Victorian Australia blasts. Now considering building Titanium exhaust headers, installing Race GP mufflers and a lithium battery for a little 21st century upgrade.

I had a new black A1 in 1986. I the got a A2 in red in 87. It was my birthday a month ago and normally buy myself something nice. On my list was a fireblade SP. A 911/997. Or a Kawasaki z900rs se. I tried to get exited about the Z900RS but couldn’t being a Ltd Ed. I needed to get a deposit but kept forgetting. So I thought if I keep forgetting I can’t be that exited can I. Then I thought maybe a Kawasaki GPZ1000RX then I got exited. I wanted the best I could find. I found one in Switzerland. Logistically it was impossible. But it had one owner from new the guy only spoke German it had to be deregistered in Switzerland then registered and apply for export papers. So I bought it rode it through 9 countries to get it home. It cost thousands just on the paper work plane flight ferry fuel customs duty, vat DVLA admin and new road tax mot insurance to get it registered. It was worth the trouble it’s ridiculously low mileage in concourse condition and I absolutely love my new birthday present.

Very underrated. They say it was a bad replacement for GPz900, but in my opinion NOT SO! It has more power everywhere and the handling is as good as 900R, considering the rider knows what it is doing. A great bike!!

I associate the RX designation with the early aluminum framed 600? I'm thinking this 1000 is not aluminum framed being it's painted?
@rocco4774

Hey Gary. It really isn`t aluminum. It is steel cradle frame. This bike is also used in japanese TOT races because of the steel frame (rules).

Yes sportbikes can survive if you don't have a stupid tennis shoe biker kid trying to blow the engine up redlining it in neutral
@rocco4774
21 күн бұрын
Do you think that tennis shoes make a difference? LOL. If you think the engine "blows up" because of reaching 10k rpm for a few times with warm motor...then you have some serious problems with the engine before you even started it...or very limited mechanical and motorcycle knowledge whatsoever.
