So we finally got our GQF 1502 Digital Sportsman Incubator in today. Doing an unboxing and will show you the hatch. Our rate on the first hatch was about 75%. We did a dry incubation while bumping the humidity to about 60-70% on the last 3 days. We really like this as we can set a ton of eggs at once.
One thing that I did have a problem was, on the second hatch I didn't realize you need some paper on the bottom of the hatching tray. All of our Guinea's developed splay legs. We fixed this with some medical tape so it wasn't bad or anything but I don't want to do this every time. The instruction don't tell you but that brown paper attached to the bottom of the hatching tray is important. The chicks need something for their feet to grip on or they can't stand or walk properly. So you can order this paper from GQF or you can just use a bunch of paper towels. We ended up using a shelf liner on our third hatch (these are washable).
We found that the eggs near the door didn't develop as much as the eggs in the middle of the incubator. This was more than likely because we had it in our house where the inside temperature is 72 degrees. So if you're doing small batches put the trays in the middle. I think we could mitigate this issue by putting the incubator in a warmer spot, like the garage.
Overall, very impressed with this incubator. It's easy to put together and its set and forget.
