confusing route - worth a stop and a walk if you're a foreign tourist. Check the slave pits (and how small they were). Near the Drostdy (court). Ideally you should be driving down through the Free State. After Aliwal (hot springs), Burgersdorp, railway junction for the main line to East London (ugly industrial complexes before entering the city-not en route). A sharp hairpin with a viewing ramp giving dramatic views of classic semi-desert.Listen to the total silence. Ancient rock, but not the primeval granite of the sourthern Namib Desert and the coastal route between Kleinmond and Gordon's Bay. Long straight fast road (beware of crosswind, high road camber) to a steep hill (called a mountain) turning sharp left. Across the town fringe turn sharp left into Cypress Grove to take the circle of the best houses in town, some of which have a train line with steam locomotives at the end of the gardens. Leave by same route and turn straight into the main street to Church. Round the church take the road to Aberdeen, the Valley of Desolation, beware of a cutting where the high camber turns sharply low risking the steering pulling out at high speed, and you are in the real Cape and the Garden Route. Forests with trees standing before Caesar. Remember the Karoo silence and the purity of the desolation dating back to the creation of the earth. Cape slavery was very small and intended to create skilled workers and has nothing to do with the international slave trade. South Africa was the only country on earth to refuse to let slave ships land on its shores for 350 years. If driving at night check the Springhares running in your headlights, average speed 31 mph for 500 metres, far faster than a cheetah, but then so is an ostrich.

Yeah might be beautiful but bastards there stole stuff out my trailer. My Hilti Te22 was my most cherished piece of equipment they stole.
