I have to disagree. She didnt fit the standards we as women have for ourselves. A lot more women would find her "unattractive" just for being a black woman with short hair and "strong" features however more men were fascinated and attracted to her because of her. She didnt "look" like the women in magazines but she was an EXTREMELY sexual and feminine person. She is the type of woman who other women would complain about because they dont understand why men like them so much. Grace being EXTREMELY Feminine, sexual and gorgeous "made up" for her having short hair which is usually not part of the male gaze

As an 80s baby we grew up seeing GRACE JONES everywhere. The explanation of her not being a so called conventional beauty maybe not necessary her career speaks for itself. She was a triple threat - model, singer and actress. She was a BOND GIRL. A MUSE for many artists, A 54 studio star!- she broke the mode of so called conventional beauty and they did not want someone like her to happen again because she is a dark beauty that most knew in her presence they could not resist! She dated who she wanted and men melted before her. Her image and music is used from Biggie Smalls and Shine to Amber Rose and Kim Kardashian poses. Anyone with eyes, taste and are truly free of the mind not being sheeple that conform to fit in can see she is an ICON. Grace Jones is one of the reasons I excel as a dark skinned beauty and never let colorism affect me. She taught me conventional is for the peasants - unconventional is for the sophisticated. They want a rare stone diamond not glass that’s everywhere 💁🏾♀️. You did an AMAZING job on this video - Thank you 🙏🏾

Grace Jones is a work of art. As a white male art student in the '80's, I can tell you that pretty much all male art students (gay or straight) had posters of Jones (along with Pete Burns, ironically) on their walls. The "white objectivity" thing is false imo: 1. Most of her fans were white males (mostly gay, in my personal observation). 2. Her white fans enjoyed her personality and music as well. She is what Yoko Ono tries to be, imo. 3. Beauty is universal...no color requirement that I'm aware of. Good vid!

I grew up in the '80s and '90s, and Grace Jones was still a byword for scary, unattractively masculine woman. I still remember a couple of In Living Color sketches that highlighted this, and I took that image to heart without ever having seen her or heard her music. With the internet, I discovered the real Grace Jones, and think that she is one of the most strikingly beautiful, talented women of all time. Knowing what I know now, it's a shame that she was known more as a caricature because she dared to be a strong, unconventional woman who defied nearly all of the standards that we live with to this day.

Grace Jones is a stunner. First time I saw her was in the movie “A View to a Kill-007.” She is incredibly talented and her beauty is unique. ❤

I live and I grew up in Paris. I don’t know where you get this information but Paris is really racist. France is really racist as a whole. They can use her image to make profit but will never consider her as a human being. As a Parisian black girl I can’t let you say that even if I usually love your work.

I love her so much. She’s so pretty and when I saw her in Conan the destroyer I definitely got a little more obsessed. Funny you’re making this video and I was just thinking about her in Vamp. I wanna recreate the look she did. Also, her being born in ‘48 is the most plausible because if she was doing gogo in the 60s she would’ve been the right age. She would’ve been 8 by the time the gogo period started if she was born in ‘52. If I’m not wrong it’s her stated birth year online as well.

Goude and Grace reminded me of the collaboration of Marlene Dietrich and Joseph von Sternberg and both women were photographed the same way showing both masculine and feminine elements❤️
