Thank you Brian I went for the tri tech t5 And am quite happy It’s solid built and the funny thing was that in the TDS of the Graco’s and the Titan was stated something like 50/75 gallons per week or so, but the tri tech says spray as much as you want or this is how they advertised it.

The pickup tube should go in and out very easily, just clean it properly, it's a slip fit with o-ring seals, NO HAMMER should ever be used to beat it into place. The nut holding it on should be ONLY hand tight. This should go on and off the machine frequently when the machine is cleaned or when paint material swaps are made. Take it off, clean it with a hose and reinstall. Saves lots of clean up time by reducing the amount of water you have to pump through the machine.

at 17:12 you said you would tighten the lower or pickup, to the cylinder with a hammer. I did not see that in the video. You hammered the pickup hose nut but not the lower to the cylinder.

the seals of the graco are more than those of the titan 440. i have the impression that they last longer. Or am I wrong? The titan only has 2 gaskets and they seem to wear out much sooner

The inside of the Titan packings has 3 lips where the piston is located. I find the Titan packings do wear faster than the Graco. The stroke of the Titan is shorter than the Graco, so the Titan runs faster to produce the same volume of delivery.

Hi Brian I’m looking to buy my first sprayer. The options are titan 440 impact and Graco 395.you’ve previously mentioned that Graco’s piston in the 390 is twice as long than the 440’s. I’m sure your advice will help me take final decision. Thanks in advance Nik UK

Sorry I missed your message. Both machines are great. They do the same work. The main difference, the Graco has a longer piston so it strokes slower. Means less wear. The Titan has static packings. This means the packing does not move against the cylinder. This almost eliminates wear on the cylinder so there is no cost to replace this to be considered.

Thank you for all of these super informative videos! I have one question. I decided to clean pump of my 495, pump is very new and was barely used, its in mint condition, but during cleanup i noticed tha the "male gland" you mentiond, is bent downwards (towards piston packings). Its not torn or distored, just uniformely bent downwards. I have new one form the repack set and this one is flat at the bottom as you mentioned. So, is it normal for it to bent slightly or is there something wrong happening? Pump has not been even used to paint a whole house. Would apreciate your insight!

The upper male glands are not metal, so they are subject to distortion. Over tightening the packing nut can cause the distortion to be more prominent. If you have no problems with leaking then I would continue to use but watch it for problems.

@@Brian_the_repair_guy I was surprised because other packings look like new from the repack set. Thank you very much for the answer! Overtighting is a possibility indeed. Contrary to many people i like to keep my equipment very clean so i have one more question. I think of disasembling the pump after every finished project to clean it inside (without changing packings) but maybe there is some reason why it's not the best idea?

@@dorgar123 I don't like the piston being removed from the cylinder unless it is being repaired. The packings begin to mirror the wear on the cylinder or sleeve walls. When removed, they may not seat exactly the same leading to faster wear. Just my opinion

If you hear a hissing as the machines strokes (typically on the down stroke) just as it reaches the set pressure and it wants to stroke and hiss, then you have an issue with the lower end. The ball could be bad, the carbide seat could be bad, the Oring under the seat could be bad, the inlet housing could be damaged. I would look at the ball first to make sure it is smooth. Then pull the carbide seat and check the Oring. Flip the seat and reinstall. See if that fixes the problem. If not let me know. If this was helpful, consider using the "thanks" button by the like button.

Unplug the motor from the board, then replace the fuse and try again. If the fuse blows, the board is bad. If it does not blow, the motor is bad
