Wire vine definitely a keeper for future containers. Disappointed in gaura. At the beginning of the season it was so cool. Airy, floaty, hovering over a verbena but then once it was done blooming that was it for the season. Even after deadheading. Love the container installation in the woodland area.

I love shady containers and single plant containers best I think. I always make some messy throw-together containers and don’t end up loving them. The single salvias in Terra cotta that I overwinter are probably my favorites. Those and begonias with silver falls dichondra in the shade. Next year I’m going to use Wyoming cannas in a series of three large teal pots. I can’t wait for that combination…I think it’ll be great.

I’d call my planter game a C this year. It’s how I got into gardening, but I was focusing this year on what I could grow myself and not just go into a garden center and buy loads of all the pretty things. I did get a lot of ideas and inspiration for what I want to do next year, though. So now I’m itching for seed starting season, haha. Great video. Amazing containers.

The only container you have that I don't care for is the big urn. All the others are A- to A+! I too have found my most successful planters are ones I spend the least time planning! The willow definitely gives the whimsy look. I imagine you could treat those willows kinda like a buddleia cut them to like 12in and keep em in there for a few years and achieve the same look. Also honestly the banana by itself with like a lime green sweet potato vine to contrast would look incredible just simple but stunning

It's end of the season, some plants are not at it's prime any more but all of those container's still look good. I emptied all of my containers at the end of July, we never had summer as hot as this year here on Blakans, no matter how much watering I provided to them, everything got burned. Have big task of reasrching and deciding what to plant in containers next year that will be able to keep up with summer as they become. Love those containers on deck and large one with banana by front door, they look amazing.

Erin, you are the best at container planting! Yours are always so original and I usually like them all except maybe the courtyard planter this year. However, I know you will do something cool with it next year. I basically rely on purple fountain grasses which is not very original but they did well during our drought this year (So. IN zone 6b). They quickly choked out the marigolds and vinca vine planted with them. I should have known. that would happen.

1. The Sunshine Ligustrum will probably be fine in your garage overwinter. That plant is tough! 2. Try your bromeliads in the hanging baskets under your tree. That’s sort of their natural habit. The purple vine in the deck planters, swoon 😍 love the willow driveway planters too! The orb installation is stunning. I'm going to be looking for the wire vine to add to my planters next year. I did begonias in planters for the first time and they thrived! Part shade hanging baskets under an eave on my porch planted with only dragon wing begonias grew to over 2' high and 4' across each! They had a lovely arching habit and deadheaded themselves, very forgiving if I skipped a few days of watering. My watermelon coleus was a total bust this year 🫤 Love your videos, cheers!
