Respect to Graeme Dott, I’ve always been a fan, I’ve just read his story on the BBC website about his depression and narcolepsy and I have tremendous sympathy for him, I’d love to see him come back once again to the crucible and win another world title. Complete respect for the guy after his frank and honest disclosure about his depression, it takes guts to admit that to the world. It seems he now has control of his depression, thank god.

In succession he beat : world champion, world runner up, future world champion, the GOAT and finally a world champion. If that's not a tough draw I don't know what is.

Always followed Micro-dott ❤ as a massive Hendry fan I remember thinking ffs Stephen, don't turn up in one final lol, Graeme didn't need anyone's help. 🏴

Probably the most boring final ever. But now I understand why... Dott was giving Ebdon some back cos once again Ebdon was deliberately being slow.

That final was the most dire match of snooker I think I've ever seen, to be frank. But fair play to Dott, it was some achievement.

So if Ronnie O'Sullivan‘s cue tip didn’t fall off things could have turned out to be a bit different.

Took me a few years to realize that he indeed was a well deserved winner and not an outlier like Shaun Murphy the previous year.

Why do you say that? Did Shaun not win the 05 title fair and square?
@albernererhelge

@@akashj7187 well, Shaun participated as amateur, ranked as #48 and never reached a professional final before (Benson & Hedges Championship was not a professional tournament). Graeme did several times before, amongst others the WC final in 2004. I think the term outlier suits quite good.

@@akashj7187 Not at all! When you win a WC, you deserve it, I think... I meant to point out, that Graeme really crowned his achievements of the previous years, which were not that clear to me in 2006 and which I see different today; in contrast to Shaun, who absolutely had no record until the WC 2005.
