RIP Thorpey. As an Aussie, loved watching him bat.

Such an underappreciated player nowadays. A classy, high quality middle-order batter. 100 test appearances, over 6,500 runs, and an average of about 45. Speaks for itself. RIP Thorpey.

RIP Graham Thorpe. I used watch quite a bit of Cricket back in the 1990s. He was one of the best players in the world in a struggling team especially mid 90s to 2000. He was also the best batsman in the England team in that era. With Hussein, Atherton, Stewart, Ramprakash a vying for second place but he was number 1 head and shoulders above the rest. He played at his best on winter tours. Unlike the other England players he played at his best on winter tour in all conditions and he was pretty good in England summers as well. Marvellous player. A real loss to Cricket.

sting281 also a fan, apart from how selfish he was when he deprived night watchman Alex Tudor 100 at Lords by deciding to take 10 runs and leaving Tudor on 95 not out with 1 run to win. We had 7 wickets left and 50 overs to get those 10 runs, and Tudor never scored a FC hundred.

@@sting281 Best English cricketer for me to come in during a crisis. Batsman I would choose to bat for my life. His 124 comeback hundred against south Africa in 2003 after being out for a year and half was immense. If he hadn't of had all of his personal problems he would have been England captain. I think after his comeback hundred in 2003, from that time until he retired he averaged at around 60, fantastic.

Thorpe was my favourite player. In fact he was England’s best batsman at the time, which his stats will probably back up, average of 44. He was very consistent and stacked up a hell of a lot of 50’s, probably should have scored a few more hundreds than he did as he got 16 from a 100 tests.

This is great to see, but some very "kind" bowling! No quick stuff! Not much Shane Warne! Part timers bowling to him! He just had to keep it going really. Keep pushing and keep going...
