TO: MR. CULLUM: This song, especially this live performance, puts my soul, mind, and heart in another worldly dimension. Every single time I play this, pardon the cliche, I get goosebumps when it ends. I'm near to the end of my mortal life, and listening to this gives me hope that my life made a difference in the cosmos of the universe. Thank You very much for posting this and sharing your beautiful talent. Eddie LaVene (A KZitem user since 2007)

Jamie is an amazing artist. His ability to mix old school jazz and new pop songs to make it both musically brilliant, easy to listen to and multifacetted always renders me speechless. He has an amazing gift for portraying emotions without it becoming too much og too rehearsed. It's just raw emotions and amazing musical talent. This song is a perfect example of this. I love it!

I watch this video at least once a week and have for years. My absolute favorite video on the internet. Poetry in motion. Takes me to a small bar in a big city on a cool rainy fall evening. A dimly lit, little hole in the wall. Very few people inside sip their poison of choice to loose life's chains. Cigarette smoke kisses the air. A man pours his soul as if it's the only in the room. Perfection. I Love this video. Thanks for sharing.

We live in a world where filthy lies can sprint around our planet millions of times in less than a heartbeat ; whilst the sad , old , abandoned truth is left , to search in vain for it's still pristine running shoes . Beauty and decency may , however , help embolden a hope for kindness and collegiality . If a song like this can't lighten your load , perhaps your family should send your headstone back . Never really listened to this song until second time I watched the movie last night.. in back of mind I thought it had a good theme song.. major understatement after making effort to listen to it - this is a perfect performance. Yours is first comment I've seen about his 'raw' voice.. it grabs me... the only other that comes close to it is "Brian Wilson - Still I Dream of It (Original Home Demo, 1976)" on youtube.. is said it was after a two-year recluse period... just him and his piano.

@@chrissupport Man. Tough call in that one. Listened to it but didn't like it as much as Brian singing God Only Knows. Cosmile Dsouza Its written for a Clint Eastwood movie, makes sense in the context of the movie. Jamie has a video talking about this song.
@bodhid
9 жыл бұрын
Cosmile Dsouza literally he means once you have departed this earth in the material sense then all that is left are small things to remember you by. These could be physical things such as trinkets, books etc or immaterial things such relationships and memories. In the context of the film, if I recall correctly, this relates to Clint Eastwoods character having left behind "his world" when his wife died, and the anger and loneliness that engulfs him. But redemption finds him in the form of a Korean family he comes to the rescue of, when their daughter is raped and the son beaten. In doing so he forms a difficult bond with the son and challenges his own, understandable, preconceptions about immigrants.Thus, all that remains from his solitary existence are these ephemeral gestures and acts, in themselves singular and unknown to the rest of us, but to those in receipt of them, priceless. By the end we gain a measure of his character through this selfless legacy, rather than simply his car. That is who he was, when you strip away everything else that accumulates during our brief stay in the here and now.
