I wanna pin this comment ahead of the premiere & address some stuff about GT7 that I didn't really find a way to work into the video. First: No, Gran Turismo 7 is not bad. I'm not saying it's a trash game or unplayable or whatever people on Twitter are calling it this week. I just am personally not enjoying the game all that much. The driving mechanics are solid, it's a very pretty game, and I am of course glad to see a mainline title releasing after so long.... but the issues I outline in the video make the experience feel very hollow to me, as someone who loved the singleplayer aspects of GT1-6. At the same time, the complete backseat Sport mode has taken is really disappointing to see after Polyphony carved out such an incredible foundation with Sport. It feels like they've overcorrected in response to the traditional, singleplayer crowd-- whose opinions are of course valid, but these two sides of the game could coexist much better than they currently do. I also find the handling model to be a bit shit, with ridiculous snap oversteer in even the slowest, weakest RWD vehicles. This is admittedly a mixture of playing on controller & being used to Sport's more forgiving throttle.... but this is, once again, too far in another direction. I've played iRacing on a controller with less frustration than I've experienced here. It feels as if the entire game was built around GT3 cars on racing tires & everything else just.... doesn't grip. I am glad I didn't end up seeing it as important enough to address compared to this video's main points, because literally the day I finalized the video & sent it off for sponsor review, the 1.13 patch adjusted the handling. It is *not* fixed, the RX-8 still snap oversteers as if it doesn't have the torque of a lawnmower, but correcting oversteer is now.... possible, instead of a fool's errand. Anyways, I'm excited to hear about how y'all are feeling about GT7. I know it's been a divisive game among fans-- though it seems nobody is without complaints here or there. edit: comments about driving line & assists are pretty rude, and usually wrong. I do not have brake assist on, as some have insinuated. I had TCS on ONE because of how bad the snap oversteer was. Note that this video came out the same day as the patch where they reduced RWD oversteer. Because it was bad. As for the driving line: I have ADHD & I dissociate/zone out really easily. The driving line stops me from ruining a ~10 minute race by accidentally driving off the track or missing a braking zone. if I know a track really well, I don't need it, but I also have trouble memorizing track layouts due to that same disability.

1.13 definitely made the Circuit Experiences a LOT easier for me (as well as a generally better driving experience overall). Even as someone who managed to earn gold on the NA version of R-6 on GT3, there are a select few sectors that felt impossible to gold on a controller. GT7 made me realize I no longer like Catalunya after spending well over an hour on sector 3, lol I've been getting away with flooring it out of certain corners that would've punished me for even giving 25% throttle in the past. It might not be as big a challenge as license tests of the past, but I'm no longer pulling my hair out over inconsistent driving mechanics

Is Ride 4 the final pure vehicle collector videogame then? I've been playing it for like 2 weeks now and it's pure as fuck - You can buy whatever whenever, you can hate some type of sportbike or circuit and still be fine... Here is some things I dislike about an otherwise great game: · The lack of European sportbikes between 1985 and 1999 (they skipped some GREAT Ducatis) plus the scarcity of Japanese ones (Suzuki has the most with THREE, Yamaha & Kawasaki have 2 each, Honda has ONE) · The complete lack of pre-sportbike (1985) fast bikes · The complete lack of TTF3 sportbikes (1980s/90s 400cc 4-cylinder sportbikes) · The complete lack of "supertwins" (midsize 2-cylinder sportbikes, very popular nowadays) · The amount of paid DLC (so many fantastic bikes locked behind real cash!) · How the adjustable difficulty works (only affects how the AI accelerates, not how it brakes or corners, which means the AI guys can be really fast around certain circuits even on a very low difficulty setting) · The simplicity of the endurance mode (1st motorbike game to have one so whatever, no multiclass racing!) · How non-dark the darkest of places are (you can run around on a racebike without lights at 3:00 no problem) I hope Ride 5 keeps the core mechanics, readjusts the career mode (it's over 500 races long), expands on the endurance mode and has a better vehicle selection

Honestly i was very excited when this Game came out, after the State of Play presentation i felt really hyped about this Game and what it could have been, i bought on Day 1 (Actually 2) for my PS4 (Yeah, i don't have a PS5 and for the moment that Console doesn't truly catch my attention), i putted the Disc, i was truly very happy to finally see a Gran Turismo Intro with Moon Over The Castle for the very first time worldwide and after i started playing the Game... It didn't feel right, the "Career Mode" felt kinda empty and extremely short compared to other GT Games (Even GT1 & GT Sport's GT League are even Longer than this attempt of GT Mode), i was just doing races and getting Cars, it took me less than a month to finish this crap, after that the only thing left to do was grinding and get cars, at first with the troublematic economy from versions 1.07 to 1.09 was really a pain in the ass to grind credits just to get the Car you want, also the lack of events make this problem even worse since now you have to grind and grind the same race over and over again just to get like 50k Credits per race, luckily 1.11 came and it pretty much improved the economy and with the addition of endurance events like the 30 Minute Circuit de la Sarthe Gr. 4 Event (Which is my favorite) that gives you 550k Cr or even 800k Cr if you do a clean race and now in 1.13 the 1 Hour Spa Francorchamps Gr. 3 Event that gives you 1M Cr really helped with the in-game economy, because of that i don't see the pay to win thing truly as the biggest problem anymore, now the true big issue is the pretty much Barebones State the Game is at the moment and the lack of stuff to do in the Game and the lack of race events for you to take advantage of your Garage, truly we URGENTLY need Gr. 1 and Gr. 2 Race Events since there are literally NOTHING at the moment, and also more races that involve Normal Cars that have Standing Grids, since at the moment we only have 2 of them that are from the Clubman Cup Plus Race Events, and i truly want to see more of them.

Almost daily that people complained about the rigged roulette tickets for a while. I appreciate the honesty on this video, and this does add more to my reservations on this game. This is not the GT game I anticipated. Maybe if it were to be improved in the future is when I'd consider purchasing it, but for now, I'll just observe and watch others play.

I really appreciate when there’s care put into a progression system, even as clinical as the term can sound. The general streamlining and standardization of progression in games is pretty heartbreaking to me, it’s usually done out of insecurity or fear players will quit, with online & service based games taking a lead, that seems to be more of s threat as time goes on. The fear of players quitting partway through is now influencing design deep into solo aspects of games.

GT7 is the least happy I've been with a game in the greater part of a decade. - Old GT games had a lot of unique and interesting events with all sorts of requirements. Half of GT7 is copy pasted "WTC 700" or "WTC 800" events with no real use. The game has Gr.2 and Gr.1 class cars and you can't use them in any sort of single player content. You spend the equivalent of 10 dollars on an in-game car that you can only use in Time Trials or custom races that aren't rewarding in the slightest. GT4 had all sorts of events where you'd use an extremely specific car you'd never use other wise to win something unique, like the Blue Mica Subaru 360 or the Nike 2022 or that one sport Silverado. - GT7 also has a godawful line up of cars, where you're forced to use the most famous cars in the world, with very few interesting "oddball" choices like the dozens of obscure kei cars in GT4 and GT5 and the lower end cars that you'd use a lot in GT1 and GT2. I've been playing racing games for my entire life, I'm kind of tired of driving Skylines. - The roulette system is a joke. A literal joke. I can almost hear Kaz laughing every time you land on the 5,000cr. That, or you get parts for a car you literally DO NOT OWN, CANNOT OWN, AND WILL PROBABLY NEVER OWN. I would really like for there to be a community crowdsourced effort to find the odds of getting anything other than the worst gift every single time. If GT7 was a person, GT7 would be one of the most punchable people I've ever met. GT7 just feels like Sport again, with no real effort put into the single player content. I regret purchasing the game and I feel utterly insulted. Welcome to the future of gaming, folks. It's only going to get worse from now on. The game isn't going to improve. It's going to remain the same soulless husk it launched as. I wasn't born yesterday.

At first glance to this game it looked appealing witha fair improvement of graphics and lots of new features PD claimed they'd add to the game, but as I started playing the game and grinded on it for some dozens of hours it turned out to be pretty much opposite to my first impression I had when I happened to come across this game. First : I found the cafe mode and the fresh feature of the owner introducing the history and characteristics of prize cars interesting and I enjoyed it in the first few occasions, but as I made a step forward on progressing the cafe mode it started feeling dull, tedious and so rhythm-breaking repeating the same thing over and over again and on the player's side not being able to skip the dialogues all at once but hitting the O button at every sentence whenever it stops, it felt completely unnecessary to force the players to bother to read them since it felt it was more like people who simply wanted to get to savvy cars with some sort of a picture book, and not for those who simply wanted to enjoy racing/play the game to savor the joy of it, PD and Kaz claimed they wanted GT7 to be "a gift" for all the car lovers and that's apparently why they made this part of game system like this to allow them to know more about cars without picking up a book or internet, but it doesn't alter the fact that it's just a game and the main point for many of us want is to simply enjoy the stuff we can only by playing a game without as much hindrance as possible, so it killed my motivation to keep playing this game to have fun with it. (Still a bit less untolerable than other points I mention though) Second : like in a few of past titles launched on PS3 I saw GT7 had some features based on real life personalities(e.g. Sebastian Vettel, Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton) and some extra tunes playing at some parts of the gameplay, some of which I found charming, but on this title it looked like PD and Kaz put too much of emphasis on them to the point that it gives me the air of pretentiousness of the developers becoming haughty of having created a game that can please "everyone" that is fond of cars. In their opinion it might be true that their product might please a few of us, but obviously not everyone since everyone has a different purpose of playing the game(and taste). I appreciate they made some astounding stuff and could sense they poured efforts to make a game that can delight us to some extent, at the least, but I feel their claim is too much one-sidedly without taking heed of what their non-supporters may think, to the point that it starts feeling nauseating and overly disgusting. On top of this later I figured out it looked like they omitted things older titles had that made them entertaining as a fully-fledged racing game (especially a variety of race events such as manufacturer events and endurance races lasting for 1+ hour) at the expense of these non compulsory trivial stuff, so in this regard as well this take they chose is a big minus to me. Third (can be more personal owing to my personal preference) : In the older titles the opponent cars in low PP races had different coloring and their starting position changed everytime I entered a particular race of the category, but in this title not only the coloring of each car but also the starting position stay always the same, which looked like they couldn't just take care of other details focusing on others too much (such as these I mentioned in point 2), I can still be okay with this point, yet this one is for sure what kept me from enjoying the races, hence to me this one served as a letdown by comparison to older titles. Also another gripe) fourth : on a lot of occasions the tyres feel they grip too much on normal tracks. It's understandable to have an exceeding amount of oversteers/understeers with tyres with low grips like comfort tyres, but with quite a number of the cars the tyres feel like they lack grip even with sport tyres, which is quite at odds with cars in real life that are far easier to drive safely on regular roads than in this game. Overall, just as I stated above I could see the efforts they made in trying to develop a game that could have potential to be as astounding and mind-blowing as many of the audience would've anticipated it to be, but as I delved more into this thing I felt this thing completely deceiving and scarce (also yeah, still incomplete, tbh). Plus I've heard there're some issues of microtransactions on online I've never played yet, thus taking that into account as well this game feels even more disheartening with lots of setbacks to be tackled with and with much more to be desired.

I still love playing GT7, but there are issues I still have with it that really bug me. First of all, the roulette tickets are still favoring against me with the lowest credits awarded from a FOUR STAR TICKET! And while I love the concept of GT Café and I don’t mind its brief history lessons on cars, it lessens the GT experience rewarding you with three cars per menu book. It’s basically GT Sport’s daily miles award times three. Collecting cars should be at the will of the player without holding their hand too much. As for the in-game economy, Polyphony did improve on it after the debacle with patch 1.07 and isn’t as much of an issue now. However it ruined most of the goodwill towards the game and continued complaints about it are players that most likely abandoned GT7 after that disaster. Fingers crossed that they don’t revert back to their old economic model that forces micro transactions later on. I can go on with other issues such as the lack of content after completing GT Café and the treatment of Sport mode in its current form, but hopefully Polyphony keeps their word on continuing to improve the game long term ‘cause what we have right now isn’t enough for the price tag.

Having played GT since I was 7 years old with the release of GT4, and who's dumped 700 hours into GT6 on my fat PS3 before it bricked, this release is so disheartening to see. I could ignore every problem you just mentioned if it wasn't for one particular aspect of the game I simply cannot stomach- you have to be connected constantly to the GT servers just to play and progress through singleplayer. This artificially reduces the lifespan of this game and forces players to move onto the inevitable GT8 once that releases. You're not buying GT7, you're renting it for as many years as Sony and Polyphony Digital deem fit. This "always-online" DRM system is what stopped me buying the new Hitman trilogy, and it's what's stopped me from purchasing GT7. It's one thing to shut down the multiplayer portion of a game, but quite another to shut down the game in its entirety.

I only have a few gripes with the game, as it is right now. The first being that any car above 800 PP can't be used in ANY campaign race at all. Unless you wanna go give it a whirl in the beginner races with no PP restrictions, driving against a bunch of slow daily cars. Such fun, great race, much fair. I miss being able to, or rather, being forced to drive the sickest race cars in the game if I wanted a chance to beat the AI in their Sauber C9, 787B, Minolta 88C-V, R8 Race Car, Pescarolo C60, the list goes on. I absolutely LOVED the extreme endurance races and the excitement of not knowing what awesome car I might win from this event until I actually won it. This naturally leads to my next gripe with GT7, as it is right now: there are not really any cool race cars to win from any of the events. At all. I think the only really "sick" car you can win from any event is the X2019 Competition from getting gold in all Super License events, and even that car feels so watered down and not so special, compared to what the X2010 was like to drive in GT5 and GT6. Probably the most "prestige"/most time consuming car you can win in the game is the Aston Martin DB5 from getting gold in all eight 1-hour races under the Missions section of the game. But guess what, instead of doing that... I just found the car in Legend Cars dealership and bought it for 500k credits. Like, what the fuck xD The thing that made certain cars so special and satisfying to own in previous games was because they could ONLY be obtained by winning them at a certain event. That is probably the worst problem I have with nearly all racing games in general these days, actually. The fact that cars have become so easy and nearly effortless to obtain in modern games. In Forza Horizon 4 & 5, they deal out cars and credits like candy it's ridiculous. In more sim oriented games like Project Cars 2 or Assetto Corsa, you can drive any car from the get go. I mean, Gran Turismo always had that aspect of really having to work hard and race a lot of races to reach the end game where you could finally begin to win the awesome cars, so that you could finally DRIVE them. And now in GT7 you can just buy them in the shops, or rather, you are FORCED to buy them in the shops. The only thing holding you back from buying everything is the way legend cars only have a few cars available at a time, and the fact that it sometimes take several days just for 2 or 3 cars to get switched out with something else. ( STILL waiting for the Sauber C9 to appear :c ) But still nowhere near as satisfying as having to WIN them from a hard/long championship or endurance race. These are just my 2 cents. This became a much longer comment than I had first anticipated, so if you read through this rant, kudos to you! :)

I’m gonna go and pick something out from this rant I found. The grinding part becomes nullified when micro transactions exist… especially with that FOMO stuff Kacey talked about. Remember at one point in 1.07 when payouts were reduced across the board? Also, you can’t even sell your car to make the grind less tedious. I’m not saying to make it easy to get cars, I’m just saying I want it to be EASIER to get cars.

This. I've been playing on PS4 which makes the game sooo much worse. It's not even the graphics that bother me most. It's the lack of feedback from the controller. It makes this wonky, oversteery handling model almost unplayable for me. Then there's the loading times, which are significantly longer than what I had in Forza 6 on my XBOne. And the graphics. Sometimes the start of missions/license tests looked almost PS3 era bad. (especially Tokyo Express Way) Really hope to get a PS5 soon, so that I can at least enjoy the few parts of the game that are actually good (graphics and driving)

Nowadays, GT isn't that much different than PC2 for example. It has become an irrelevant game. Case in point; my closest city (Antwerp, Belgium) was covered in GT7 ads for about 2 months. 10 years ago, everyone who knows video games would know what Gran Turismo is. Even once you purchase a cool car from the legendary dealer, there are very few things to actually do with the car unless you want to grind money or do custom races. Also kinda disappointed that more than half the soundtrack is from the GT5P-GT6 era. Previous games remixed classic songs from GT1 & 2 in the menus and races. Nowhere to be found now. What doesn’t it have that previous GT games have? The old GT mode is just in the World Circuits now reshuffled in structure a bit. All those races still require a certain license and certain class of car to race in. You can either buy the car necessary or tune ones you already have to race in them. You can do all the mission challenges which are unique and challenging and of course the circuit experiences. Just confused as to what this game is missing compared to the old GTs now.

And I say this because the way this game tries to do it is vain, cringy, lame, and pathetic. This game is rather an insult to car culture. Car culture in this game is a vanity, rather than a supplement. And as far as videogame racing sims go, Racing sims are not about car culture, kid. They're about driving and going fast, that's it. Everything else should come second. Otherwise, the consequence is what you get in Gt7, an unfinished pile of matter that lacks content.... and tries to introduce me to car culture. Having it billed as a "return to form" and the classic Gran Turismo formula returning, I feel pretty betrayed by it to be honest. Replacing the old formula with the cafe was one of the worst decisions in game design I've seen in a lot time. The cafe itself is actually quite a nice feature. It should've been an optional side thing where you had all menus unlocked from the get go, and as you collected cars naturally yourself, you began to fill in the menus. Having the races be track based and not event based (Sunday cup with 3 races, Clubman Cup with 3, Turbo/NA etc) was also a terrible idea. The way they've constructed the dealerships also feels like it's been intentionally restricted for no reason other than encourage FOMO. Why can't I go into the brand central and look at their legendary cars in the way you could in GT4? I loved seeing all the special cars that were in the game, and wondered how did you win them. Speaking of which, something I've not really seen anyway talk about, but I absolutely hate the fact they showed you the prize car before you even started the race. One of the things I found most exciting in the old GT games was seeing what prize car was awaiting you once you won all the races in the event. I simply cannot fathom the people defending this game who claim to have played the older GT games. GT7 is something that had the potential to be great if their first objective was to make a great game, but it wasn't. It's first objective was to make the game just good enough to get players to tolerate it while tweaking everything to encourage the purchase of microtransactions ever so slightly wherever possible at the expense of the enjoyment of the game. Modern gaming has really left me feeling disillusioned with my lifelong hobby.

I didn't realize until this video: the camera has never been hard locked to the rear exterior until GT7 - the most beautiful racing game on the market. It seems counterproductive toward showcasing a gorgeous game - what could they possibly gain, from a programming perspective, by having players restricted to a single exterior angle? Watching it in this video makes it painfully apparent how stiff and straight up 80s era that camera angle is. Edit: seems ppl are missing my point. Changing the distance or FOV of your camera means nothing if you can't change the angle of approach, aka look at the side of your car. I shouldn't have to enter a camera mode or garage to see the side of my car in a game this beautiful lol. Hell I think NFS on the 3DO even had side view in the early 90s.

GT7 is a poor package after seven years, yes seven years of development genuinely other than the graphics what is new? The game is GT Sport for the racing elements and GT5/6 for the non racing stuff. They call it the driving simulator but there is no driving in it only racing, the racing is more likely to be a negative experience than positive because of utterly ineffective Penalty System, to be competitive in racing you have to have a wheel. A wheel allows much much improved performance of the car and this reflected in lap times - Joypad users have been left out to dry by the developer who only seems interested in supporting their A S rated drivers not mere mortals Non racing is good, car tuning excellent but the buying of cars and car choice is poor, there are NO modern cars in the roster, everything has been seen before in previous versions You mention the tutorials, these do not teach racing which to me a major fail I could go on but the overwhelming experience of the game is negative, this is a 6 out of 10 game at best

The game feels so soulless. Any little throwback to past games just feels like it's there to shut the old fans up. Though I like a lot of the customisation for sure, the widebody, the upgrade parts, I also like the car selection. I think PD has this vision for GT to be this grand racing experience with the glamour and class that is portrayed on TV with F1 and Le Mans etc. It's really hard to explain what I mean, but the whole cafe thing, the jingle when winning a prize car, the midi classical-jazz remixes, getting Lewis Hamilton to play the opening theme. There's just this air of pretentiousness that I feel when playing this game. Older GT games just had this amazing playful vibe, they were absolutely full of charm and they seemed to have a rhythm to them. The menus, the music, the noises when selecting or deselecting, the art direction, they just had this amazing flow to them that hasn't been replicated since GT5. I guess I'm really just disappointed about the vibe and feel of the game more than anything, which isn't really fair. I think the correct term for the past 3 releases would be masturbat0ry, and self-absorbed. It's unfortunate.

Gran Turismo 7 felt like it could've been my new favorite game in the franchise. It had the custom parts from GT6 back plus new part options combined with GT Sport's amazing livery editor. It was bringing back some of my favorite cars from the past games up til that point plus bringing along some new-to-series stuff. It wasn't new cars, sure, but it was stuff I was completely interested in driving. But, your video in a few ways reflected my inner thoughts and feelings about the game. Polyphony clearly making the UCD and Legends dealership as a means to keep players coming back to playing GT7 to avoid missing cars, this is the same tactic that Playground Games has used for Forza Horizon 4 & 5, and I HATE it! I hate only weekly assessable cars that will only come back weeks later in real life versus being in-game unlocks or at least an in-game cycle. I also was disappointed on the fact GT Cafe mode was the main career mode rather than just side missions, which takes away the fun of picking and choosing which events I do first. I mean, there's some choice there as you can still pick which event to do first in most of the books, but it's still so limiting compared to past entries. What's worse about it is that the career is too short and unfinished, that video with Jimmy Fallon showing later book events proved that to me. I don't know if it was the typical PD rush preventing the extra events or maybe they did that on purpose to drip feed events for the next few months. Whatever the case, it sucks. With that said, I think you did an excellent job capturing the bigger issues with GT7 outside of the Microtransactions.

100% agree with you. I always felt the heart of the GT games was how unique each playthrough was. We all had an incentive to talk about our playthrough from each of the games because it was always different. Now, it's barely unique. combined with it's clusterfuck race menu and forcing online only. I was so annoyed I was going to trade it in and get at least some of my money back. I remember first booting into Simulation Mode as I still call it and was like, wait, "where are the licenses? where is the dealership?" then after I unlocked them I figured out what was going on. I have played every single game of GT and my disappointment was immeasurable when I found out GT Cafe wasn't a side thing, it was the whole game. I played for 2 days and never touched it again. They are improving the game over time, so I'm confident the game will be in a much better spot some time from now. But I 100% don't blame you for quitting after just a couple of days. As said in the video, the game will be better in the future, but not many will stick around to witness it sadly. The first impression is very important for games. If a game doesn't convince you from the get go, then usually the majority of the player base drops the game and never touches it again, regardless of future updates that are supposed to improve the game. I can kinda live with all the other "bad" things mentioned in the video, but not having the freedom based career mode like in the older games was definitely devastating to see. The linear menu book progression was the single worst thing a GT game has ever done in 25 years, and I really hope that GT8 goes back to the old career mode style. I'm still playing GT7, simply because it's GT, but it definitely has a lot of wasted potential.

In my personal opinion, I think the lack of content is what makes the game feel rather shallow, as if after you complete the entire cafe, you only are left with doing races, license test, and missions, which can all be completed in a week or two. Granted, we just got a update that adds 3 new cars, and another event, however I feel like we need more instead of less. GT7 is a great game, and I'm having my fun with it, however it's important to talk about the flaws of the game, instead of trying to go right over them.

If polyphony can do all of that on a ps2 console they could definitely have a 1600+ car list with a 100+ track list with the ps5s capabilities. Gt7 is missing over 854 cars and over 20 tracks and layouts, without the alternate layouts gt7 has only 35 different tracks these numbers should be going up not down, they also didn't have to completely change deep forest and trial mountain and could've at least included the older layouts like how gt4 had the 80s, 90, and 00s layouts of fuji, they completely butchered the ford gt lm race car spec II while forgetting to add other dtm cars for the Alfa Romeo 155 dtm to compete with. so far they have only added 6 cars in 2 months and this trend of incomplete games getting released needs to stopped, nobody wanted the gt cafe to be the career mode of gt7, all we can do really now is to have better hopes for gran turismo 8

This would certainly increase the fun of the game. I would go there every day to check out new auctions and look at whats interesting to me. The real shame with modern gaming is that I don’t think the industry as a whole will ever be what our generation wants it to be based on the games we used to love growing up. The entire industry is very different now and I see it all continuing in the same vain from here on. On thing which made games great in years gone by is that companies couldn’t get away with releasing fluffed out or unfinished content like they can now. In the past we got complete, well made, big free games that were entirely on disk because that was the best tech available and if companies wanted us to come back for the next one the whole game had to be spot on from its release. I haven’t yet played GT7 but I adore the previousGT games 1-4 in particular and I’m a stickler for linear games (with enough agency to feel in control) that have proper hard progression systems. I think what we’re (or at least I’m) finding is that games now are either too linear or far too open, lacking balance. My particular gripe if I could narrow it to one point is the abundance of games in this generation which prioritise quantity over quality (I can’t really speak for gt7 as I haven’t played it yet) but your pints seem to make perfect sense. For me the last 2/3 forza titles have been steps backwards, Dying light 2 for me is the worst offender of all (sorry for going off topic a little). Dying light 2 is the complete embodiment of what’s wrong with games today: coma inducing story, massive and pretty but completely copy pasted and lifeless world/ map, rushed physics, buggy as hell, generic badly paced progression which promises agency but is ultimately linear and generic.
