In 1940 Hitler wants to drive Britain into submission but a land invasion is impossible.
The only way to bring Britain to her knees is to deprive her of the maritime trade on which her survival is based. The great strategic weapon of the Germans is the power of the uboats, the submarines of the German Navy.
With a much smaller fleet and unable to cope with surface ships, German uboats will play a key role in inflicting heavy losses on commercial convoys arriving from the US in an attempt to deprive the British of valuable supplies of weapons, food, and raw materials. Karl Dönitz is in a crucial position, commanding the submarine force. In a few years, he will become the last leader of Nazi Germany.
