The perfect home for a delightfully authentic man. Well done Ben and James!

Having been a livaboard for years it is hard enough to go back to land. I miss the sound of water on the hull at night. I miss the extraordinary sunrises and sunsets cruising around Florida. I dont miss the storms but on land you get the same storms. My best wishes to this gentleman in his future.

One of the most successful and delightful builds I've seen on Grand Designs. The architect did a fabulous job of integrating James' love of boats with living on land modestly. And, I believe the trust played a beneficial part in allotting funds for a house build without the ability to fund outrageous extravagances that we've seen all too often on Grand Designs (remember the underground garage with hydraulic lifts). This build wasn't about showing off. This build was about living in a luxurious setting without the luxury. So nicely done.

They always say the worst person to work for is family. Ben and James have proven that wrong. The house seems perfect for James, and while building houses was not Ben's field of expertise, he nailed it. Well done. Wishing James a wonderful future docking in his new home. 🚤 Thank you for sharing.

Eccentric is the word. It takes all types. I’ve known many people like him.

Charming house. Be interesting to know if that butterfly roof remained water tight.

It's not such a bad way to go. I am 65, how did that happen, and I have never grown up. Lived on my sailboat for years and taught diving. It was a great life. Now on land I spend my days building my garden. It's okay but I miss the water everyday.
