Grandfalls has been closed to ALL visitors. Only local residents are allowed access to the immediate vicinity of the Falls. There has been a immense amount of traffic and the disrespect for the land and residents is off the charts. People have been off roading over endangered plant species causing deep erosion in areas untouched by vehicles. A huge amount of trespassing on private property and tribal grazing lands. They are leaving trash everywhere and no one other than the locals collect the trash and clean the restrooms. Some idiots have been seen and reported chasing our livestock and looking for sacred ruin sites. The use of drones in the area has been abused to the point where they are seen flying over homes and the privacy is violated. This type of drone footage is going to require a permit in the future so the regulations will save the drone owners and residents the hassle of privacy violations. It's an ongoing problem and we had to put our foot down and shut it down for time being and let the land heal. It's very sacred to us and it's a huge responsibility that we don't take lightly. We will be planning the future use and access to the Falls in upcoming weeks. Any visitors who passed all the signs by the main highway will be stopped and asked to turn around. Please respect our choice and allow us to restore the chaos that has been destroying the serenity of Grandfalls. Thank you for your time and understanding. Feel free to share this information with others. Jerald Tso and the Grandfalls, Az residents. (My house is the one in your drone footage in the background 2:47)

Back in 1996 my wife and I (and our three kids) spent a week during Spring Break in Flagstaff and visited the Natl. Parks and Monuments (Anasazi and Sinagua ruins) in the area as well as traveling down to Sedona to the Red Rock country and Jerome and Montezuma's Castle. The red and black volcanic "mounds" were colorful and amazing in themselves. However, the highlight and most awe inspiring day trip was to "The Chocolate Falls". The locals in Flag who recommended it to us emphatically told us to respect the land and yield to the herders tending their livestock. I love that area and its history and heritage and it always takes me back to the closing scene of "Windtalkers". We were blessed to have been able to go there back then and it's a travesty that too many people today have little to no respect for others, their property (or even themselves). It truly was a sight to behold!

Nice drone view and editing skillz.. LMAO.. reversing the water flow.. As long as the falls have been there.. I find it odd with all the Chocolate\muddy water that the ground isn't more washed away. I mean the water isn't that muddy 1\4 mile previous to these falls. I wonder how much mud would be in a jar or handful of it..?

With all the rain and storms we've been getting, it wouldn't surprise me if it was flowing right now. But to guarantee a show, I usually go on Instagram and look for recent posts of the falls, then DM the user to figure out how recent the photo was taken.... never fails!

Depends, yes they are dying off but we could still get some good showers, and the forecast did show some rain up there toward the end of the week. I saw a photo on Facebook and it looked like the falls were very light, try to go after a good rainfall if you can...will increase your chances

Do you need a commercial license to fly drones here or can anyone fly their drones here?
@jessiesdroneadventures7464
Жыл бұрын
When I last checked....which was around when this video was made......there weren't any drone restrictions to this area. I would recommend checking their website though just to be on the safe side. Aside from that, you do need a Part 107 certification if you plan on using your drone for commercial purposes

@mikenichols3849
Жыл бұрын
not sad at all. it is precisely why the falls exist in the first place. natural erosion such as this is how even places such as the grand canyon were created through natural processes over millions of years. none of this is a result of human hands so to speak.
