This is how I used to treat my dashboard at 3 AM... I found a cassette of this album for fifty cents, in 1985 (bought four copies and uh..passed 'em around). I had the 8-track before that. And the LP. And then the CD. And now the mp3's. Its title was truth in advertising. One of the greatest sounds of '76. ..This, Aerosmith Rocks, Gimme Back My Bullets, and Technical Ecstasy....wow man.

Nice to see another Grand funk fan & musician. I'm a singer. Guitarist, keyboards, bass & slowly teaching myself the drums. I sang both Farmer &; Brewer songs. I heard Heartbreaker in the cafeteria at highschool a row away on a cheap one speaker cassette, while the Jukebox was playing. I thought they were saying ah baby, needless to say, I couldn't find it. A buddy was playing his acoustic and started it, I stopped him and asked the name & who, the raw direct from the board live album which I think was ballsy to do. Most polish it in the studio, especially today. The fake Grand Funk, they make no mention that the guy who wrote 92% of their material & actually wrote the music for American band, Don asked for full credit cuz he'd never got one. No shit you write lyrics. He can play 2 string chords. He'd still be trying to play what he wanted if he wrote it. The proof is he's yet to 'write' anóther. There's professional recordings of Shea Stadium & the Bosnia in Detroit with Paul Shafer of Letterman as orchestra leader. Don won't release them, cuz Mark was the front man. No shit Sherlock you'd still be in Flint if you were still trying to get anywhere without Mark's songs. Frost was brought in so Brewer had a different person to write with. But Mark had progressed, where most of the Frost - Brewer were regressing, part of why I think their strong broke. They'd tell Mark his song was too political! That's part of the appeal, Mark spoke for all of us, plus wrote some kickass songs & is still doing so today. After Mark toured 3 years with them, after promising 2. At the end he made sure Mark had been partying, then said you need to sign some papers so everything's protected under some umbrella lawyer shit. Mark thought they were his friends, Mark's got a big heart & there's no way in hell he'd have Done what Don hit Mel to do, strip Mark's vice presidency & his right to vote in the Corporation. Dlon sued him for using at 1/4 the size of Mark Farner ',Formerly of Grand Funk' which is reality. But because there was an injunction that Mark had to show by law, & right when his son ended up quadriplegic with no insurance. But a bunch of people who've worked with Mark raised over a million dollars to help retrofit Marks Country house, built into the side of a mountain. 2 generators, ramps & access in and out for life flight. I believe they made a helicopter pad. Since Mark lives in the tip of the not in northern Michigan. He had too many crazies showing up when he was near Flint. A mile or 2 from Lake Superior, he doesn't have that problem. Mark could stop them from playing his songs, but as you can probably tell by his songs that's not who Mark is. He's had James Brown's last drummer Hubert 'H bomb' Crawford, a big Don Brewer fan.you do know in the early days, Do never used a double bass, he's an animal! A crooked SOB & false ego Hashim by the balls. Myself, & a drummer I played with in 2 bands & our wives spent 2 bucks a piece to see them at the Ostrich Festival playing the tired Take Me damn near disco! But when they started a sickly falsetto version of Closer to home, none of us said a word, we all got up grabbed our blankets & headed for the gate. Mark's never stopped wriing or performing. He spent 2 years in Ringo's All. Starts band, with Billy Preston him & Mark jammed, John Entwistle bassist for the Who, Felix Cavalier from the Rascals, Randy Bachman BTO & Guess who, Ringo's son & 1 other whose name escapes me. Mark had the same black bass player for close to 20 years, but he got his MD license, but he does a few of Mark's Acoustic nights. While playing on Alice Cooper's album giving Detroit credit for all the musicians, like everybody else their families in groups came up to work in the car factories. Mark heard Paul sing & was blown away by his bass playing. Mark's always had soul & grooving in his songs, having a black drummer & bass player just fits. I got to see Grand funk in the 90's. Give me Mark Farner's American Band, 100% of everything is American made. Brewer thought he could stake claim to. American & Band, that's how vindictive he is. Mark's told them he forgives them & they should tour while they're all sucking air. Don turned down 20 million for a tour. They have hired guns, one from 38bSpecial & another Kiss, but their voices are like Don's, thats in no way Grand Funk. To prove my point about writing they've been touring this way for 20 years, not 1 new song by him. 1Mark even told Don what to okay on the intro & that it needed a bad ass cowbell, telling him to buy 6 & they'd pick the best. It came in 2nd for the best songs with Cowbells to Don't fear the reaper. Checkout Abysmo films KZitem site, a tear jerker song & video by Mark Never & always. He's got a new DVD 'From Chile with love's They go nuts for him in Chile. They taught themselves English to better understand Mark's songs. 16 live tracks, 2 videos & 5 previously unreleased songs, on marfarner.com for $14.99 $3 of each DVD his wife of 43 years 44 in Sept. Give the $3 to the Veterans Support group, where 100%of proceeds go to getting American & Canadian Vets off the streets, helping them re-enter the working world if able if not they help them get through the red tape to get the disability payment our soldiers deserve, they shouldn't have to rely on other Vets, but Mark's always supported the troops. He prayed for a song that'd reach out & touch the hearts of those God felt needed it most. He got up in a state of not awake, not asleep & the words came pouring out. His wife always checks papers just in case & saves them in a special folder. She can tell when Mark's in the zone & allows him that time & space. He was 31 she 18 & nobody said anything good. But I've seen them, he admits she's his better 3/4's. Keeps his long pony tail. To honor his Cherokee blood. He was given the Cherokee medal of honor. Which had him in tears. Also given a ceremonial handmade rug or blanket, since he's played many of their Casinos. I love Don Brewer the drummer, the punk who'd backstab a highschool friend. Who went out of his way to write songs for Don to sing. Always gave him the stage for his solo & told everyone his name. But he's Done Brewer not Don Henley! The song written in the middle of the night? 'Closer to home' and Vets who wait to get something signed, and get s picture. I got a picture, sang the first line of Closer to home & turned Mark's head & most of the crowd around him~ For the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam memorial wall, they sent out a questionnaire,. One being what song got them through tough times, it was Closer to home by a landslide. They Contacted Mark through his manager, and asked Mark if he'd come & sing it, Mark asked if they'd have a stage, lights & PA they said of course, he said I'll fly my band there in my dime & play a set for them. Mark said he saw so many big strong Vets in tears, it was like he had a grapefruit in his throat, but did it flawlessly. If you ever see an ad nearby for Mark Farmer's American band, do yourself a favor. Don even took their supposed live performance and added at least 1 vocal. track, who knows what else~ Great Fing drumming BTW.. Mark even called Terry Knight & told him he forgave him. The thief took a million & a half from them after their first European tour. The first 3 years Capital paid them 16% Knight took the 10 % while they split the 6% he took 10% of that too. But Mark forgave him before his daughter's drugged up boyfriend was coming at her with a hunting knife, Terry got between them, it was his last move.Rock on!

@@TheDrumChannel Most welcome. Your kit and style are different from Brewer's, but you hit all the marks. I used to play decades ago and did some GFR stuff. Not as easy as some might think. Because of my living situation I had to give it up. But I was playing guitar and focused on that for almost 4 decades. I don't like what Brewer and Schacher did to Farner, and the version of GFR for the last 20 years is just blah to me. The magic is gone. I've seen Farner live several times. Never disappoints. But your drumming skills are spot on. Keep it going as long as you can. Happy Thanksgiving.🦃
