Use to own a 2004 P71 SAP that was never driven hard, just a two and from work car for an FBI office guy. I bought it at 68,000miles and Sadly I sold it at 134,000 back in 2017. Huge regret but currently looking at a 2004 P71 SAP with 85,000 miles or a 2004 Grand Marquis GS with 68,000 miles on it. Tough decision man. I want that 2004 p71 as it’s the first years with the marauder airbox and maf and last year with throttle by cable. However I like that GM get better gas mileage and idk if the different geared rear end is really worth it. Like I said I once had a 04 p71, maybe it’s time to try something new. Mostly everyone I’ve talked to in the Vic community has said if they could go back and changed things or had a bigger budget time of purchase people always say they have gotten something other than a p71 based on the comfort aspect.

Weeks upon weeks of being out every night with them. Damn good room for me and my girlfriend after everyone else has been dropped off. Had the best summer of my life with that car I love it to death. I always wanted an old P71 interceptor throughout high school and this turned out to be all that and more and I wasn’t even expecting it. My mom bought it for $700 from my brother in law for a graduation/birthday gift and I’m beyond grateful. Crown Victoria police/taxicab sucks ass. I own 2 grand marquis. Mercury is better to get me where I wanna go, I'm not going to get into any pursuits. Police car seats mounted all the way to the floor. The police car sucks because it's been beaten to death already. As far as mercury, the 1998-2002 with watts link suspension, coil springs, recirculating ball steering gives a soft ride but alittle sloppy steering when making tight maneuvers. The crap Victoria has stiffer springs so your ass gonna feel them bumps on the road 2003-2011, rack and pinion steering, new suspension in the rear. Differences are subtle but you can feel the difference if your like me who owned and drove these cars for past 19 years. Rear air suspension is nice, the reworked suspension gives alittle better handling and less floaty feel. I prefer the floaty feel, don't really care much for the sportier handling. 1999 crap Victoria police,2004 crown Victoria, 1998 town car, 1999 town car,2001 grand marquis, 1989 grand marquis, 1982 caprice, 1989 caprice Rite now, I'm driving 2000 grand marquis,2008 grand marquis, and still got the 82 caprice

That Mercury needs control arm bushings. They are both prone to that though. Actually all Ford vehicles are. Unfortunately, that's the trade off having that smooth and soft Ford ride quality. I've had a 2000 Crown Vic P71 Interceptor and I currently have a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. You're not wrong! Hands down, the P71 is the better performance machine. I miss mine. But hands down, the Mercury Grand Marquis is one of the smoothest, nicest riding cruisers I've ever driven. At the end of the day, I'd much rather have a suped up Mercury. I loved having a police car. I loved every bit of it except getting stuck behind somebody who thinks you're a police officer, and I hated how basic the interior was. But, if you're willing to drop a few grand into serious performance mods, the Mercury is the way to go!

I'm about function over style so I'm still considering then I'll probably give the muffler a growl and at anoint I would love to boost performance. Since I'm in California and I'm good for 2 years on smog, any suggestions what I should do to it? I've heard a p70 air intake if I can find one is a good place to start. The a k&n filter, and there was a fuel line piece i seen that are always bad on these engines and just replacing that alone would add 10 to 15 miles to the tank. Any thoughts? How do those window trim inserts look? They're $109 i think i saw and they just fit over the windows, like accents, I forget the name

Thanks so much for all this info. But I still am unclear about a couple things. One thing is that you say it is easier to get parts for the Crown Vic's because the junk yards have so many of these cars - but is it not true that virtually any part at all for either model is interchangeable with the other model? And, I would like to ask your opinion about the fact that the P71 has no doubt been driven hard and fast and idled for many hours with no concern by the drivers for abuse they put it to; and you say generally the Grande Marquises have been driven carefully by grandma's and grandpa's but other mechanics claim that the start and stop driving , short trips to the store and to bingo and church age the car much faster than highway miles, since the car does not have time to warm up properly and the engine wears out faster in the first few miles. What I am looking for is the car that will last the longest with the least trouble - so do you conclude the Crown Vic is the best coice? Thank for your advice.

P I I would get the valve cover gaskets from ford dealer!! But you can get your front end from here!! www.1aauto.com/ford-lincoln-mercury-steering-and-suspension-kit-12-piece-set-trq-psa58976/i/1asfk02609

I think that’s a Grand Marquis LS. You probably would’ve made an easier comparison with a Grand Marquis GS. The GS is the little bit less fancy, but still fancy Grand Marquis. The GS is a little more basic

Idk, if anyone will see this since it's an old video. But I could get the P71 and just swap out the interior with a grand marquis so I have the leather seats and luxury, while having the durability of the cops eh? I just hate the front end of the Grand marquis. I'm desperate for a car right now, as I've split with my ex of 13 yrs, and she took the family car. This past year without one (1st time in 20 yrs) has been hell. These Uber and lyft rides are kicking my a$$ man. Plus fuel prices they've upped their prices on rides..😕

Hi I'm 21 I just bought a 2004 mercury grand marquis LS I have heard that the LSE model stopped in 2003? Mine has the air ride, floor shifter, Centre console, tuned suspension, and dual exhaust so I wild like to know if it is in fact a 2004 LSE or 2004 LS HPP I'm new to the panther platform so I do not know thank you!

Springs, shocks, steering,on the grand Marquis can be replaced with crown Vic parts.. In their prime, crown vics were slow... any mom's Mimi van will smoke it from 0 to 60.. A grand Marquis is a way better investment, how many cops, dropped the occasional fart in their P71, how many perps...shit them self's. Ya da ya da.. Panthers best feature is it's built like a tank, Handel great for a larger car Detroit stopped building.. It's a lot easier to have the comfort, and build up, than too add the comfort to a base utility patrol car... Some P71 did come with all the creature comforts, ( detective, government, )

Had a crown Victoria 03 P71 lost control crashed it sadly wrapped around a pole and it was a goner after bought a 99 marquis LS personally I'd choose the crown vic for the great suspension but the marquis runs so smooth

ok i just went shopping for a panther car, one thing you want to take into consideration is the nasty vinyl roof they put on these cars. it rots holes in the roof, and to remove it you will be left with a bunch of screw holes and rust holes in the roof and doors to fill in. if you can find one without the vinyl top buy it, my 09 crown vic came with holes for the cop antennae, i wish they left them in, but they plugged them so im going to hide then with a fake shark fin antenna and a fake cb antenna if i can find one maybe ill put in a cb radio i dont know

I had a 1996 vic that the computer went crazy in it. The dealer reprogrammed it with software updates for a mustang gt and found updates for a Lincoln town car. It had a nice kick when you put the hammer down.

I wish someone else owned mine. Ball joints /suspension is a joke.the plastic intake manifold leaks constantly. check engine light comes back on 1 day back from shop.climate control goes out once a year. every time ball joints go it rips up tire, then it needs alignment. As of today,it's been sitting in shop for 3 weeks, this time.

How long has he been doing this stuff what does he do work at the car wash you don't compare a crown Vic interceptor with a luxury Mercury model I rent for over 25 years and you know this guy I don't know which end of the taco he'd eat first but I'll tell you what he better go back and not quit his day job I think he better find a different career than what he was trying to do have a nice day
