Every time I see the LV label I think of this song, still, 40 odd years later. Used to play this in the early 80's in the local club with us uncool white boys trying to rap and pop. We were hopeless but fuck it was fun. Respect to all these originators that laid the base for the hugeness it is today. Scratching, break beating, punch phrasing, lining up the breaks on homemade slip mats. Cowboy even created the term hip hop. What a time. The Message still the best of all time for me, lyrics till hold true today. Thanks for posting this rare gem.

"compared to the message" Yeah, well you can't simply improve on perfection. Most rap songs of ANY era are going to sound like trash compared to that joint. IMHO this was far from corny though simply based on the presence of cuts and scratches and several MCs rockin the mic.
