This is what I like the most. Watches that has an emotional value to the owner. I've serviced about 75 watches a year for the last few years. And when an owner comes to me with a watch that really means something to them I also get emotionally attached. And yes, even if i's a Casio. ;) It's like you say, personal. It could be a first watch, a watch that belonged to a relative, or even worn to war. They have a history and should be treated with dignity. Thanks for all the great stories you share Stian!

Thanks so much for your comment, Hans, and I couldn't agree more. Nowadays a lot of old watches aren't really economically viable to service/restore, but that's also very often not what matters. What matters is the joyful memories that watch might bring :)

my everyday watch is a seiko I received for my 16th birthday, 55 years ago. I wore it till is stopped then a couple of years ago had it serviced. still a great watch.

I put a new 7S26 movement in my old Seiko 5 watch (SNK 357) and regulated it to 0 seconds per day and it kept losing time each day. I set it to +4 like you did in the video and now it keeps perfect time!!

Stian is a very good Name for a watchmaker ! It means vagabound, or better "the Walker" And this fits perfekt with a Sweap Hand from a watch because he "walks" So all what is Rest is a TY for that restoration !

5:24 Us woodworkers use the same strategy. Always make cuts with the least expensive/easiest to sharpen/replace blade first.

Another beautiful video. My Sunday meditation. Your attitude towards decay and refurbishing reminds me of a book by Dutch author Midas Dekkers, "De vergankelijkheid", in which he elaborates on the beauty to be found in decay over time. Maybe there's a Norwegian translation....
