When i came out as transgender my mother told both my grandmother and grandfather for me, and said that if they cant stand behind me(us) then they wont have any contact with any of us at all. And my grandparents took it with ease, my grandmother had a harder time with pronounce than my grandfather, and my grandfather even began starting saying my new name before my grandmother. Which is so cool, cuz i always saw him as this big tough old guy thats so masculine and i always had a deep, like really deep connection with my grandmother(she was my 2nd mother) and i sort of expected the opposite. Long story short, my grandmother marched with me and my family in pride, and helped out until the day she got sick. Both my grandparents took pride in me and my accomplishments with human rights(like telling their friends about me and who i am and what i stand for). Seeing stories like this makes me wanna share what an absolutley awesome family i have, how grateful i am for them just letting me be me and being proud of what i accomplish.

I have no memories of my grandfathers. One died the year I was born; the other when I was 4. My Dad was a grandfather-like figure. He left all raising of the children and all discipline to my mother. He liked to simply sit and tell stories of the war he fought in and his life growing up on the farm. He was a contradiction: sweet and sensitive at times, stubborn and autocratic at other times. I would have liked both my parents to see your film. Maybe they could have understood me in words I was not sophisticated or articulate enough to speak. I'd love to see your film. @@belmont620 As an atheist myself, I don't comment on people's faiths when they are using it to show their love and acceptance for another person. You have to realise that if you come from a religious family, the lessons and values are still somewhat apart of you, even if you do reject the beliefs of others. Faith is yours, not others to keep. My Chinese grandparents are taoist/buddist, my mum was once christian and my dad was too as a kid. But like to me I see things as traditions but in a positive way, there is always something to learn from the past even if it does sound unbelievable to yourself. There is also still something wonderful about praying for things that you want to happen and trying your best to make the outcome you want, then them surprising you by happening in an unexpected way.

Joshua is a mench: self-aware, insightful, bright to point of brilliant, emotionally sensitive, using his own conflicts as inspiration for his creativity: the highest order of ego defense is sublimation, Joshua has it in spades. Dealing with his cultural heritage, and his responsibility thereto, he chooses vulnerability, candor, and self fulfillment as the rewards his family can appreciate as his progeny. This sweetheart of a guy, modest, precious so you want to hug and kiss him for his strength, is as f**king normal as anyone on Earth: this will make his family so proud they will pay for his gay wedding. What is so satisfying is how he put himself together, with his mother's validation: the purity, and unselfishness, of her love is what he exudes and will bestow on the lucky guy he choses to love....Bravo, Bravo

It is simple. It is about love and respect. When you partner up with a woman or a man, love and respect, have happiness in life, not despair.

Love is all you need to be happy, even if it doesn't always go the way it supposed to. But just to know that they love you no matter what has happened in the past. Here is my short film: kzitem.info/news/bejne/q3iftmWvqKOUnno

Joshua ... you are an inspiration to me. Thanks for posting... In my time or after, love could not be accepted between two men. I'm so pleased that you are willing to speak out and say is love, regardless of gender. Thank you . Everyone has a right to love and be loved.

Interesting how people feel about family names. Mine is unusual, but the direct link will die with my generation (though there are distant relatives that will perpetuate). My grandfather had 3 sons - you'd think the odds were good. From the three sons, there are 10 kids, again decent odds. But of the 10, 5 are girls. Of the 5 boys, 2 are gay, 2 will never have children (hetero - but life just didn't go that way) and 1 basically cannot (Down's). So that's the end. Sort of sad, but the only way I can see it really mattering would be if we were English and there were a title attached that would become extinct. In which case at least ONE of those 4 boys would have to step up :)

Lee, the film is about a gay 28 year old in New York who is struggling to paint a self-portait for his solo debut at a Chelsea gallery. In search of inspiration, in the form of an old portrait, Stillman journeys to his seaside hometown where he faces the trial of reuniting with his estranged father at the family's boat workshop.

TBH I don't really remember... I was in a really weird state of my life as on social media life was amazing but truly it was fucked cause met ex was cheating on me after both my New Zealand grandparents died. It was a lot. I struggled with addiction and was just in a really weird place. If you have any patience two years later... @
