Granite Island is a small island next to Victor Harbor, South Australia, about 80 km south of South Australia's capital city, Adelaide. It is a popular tourist attraction, particularly for people wishing to see little penguins (commonly called "fairy penguins") which live there. The tiny penguins used to be a huge drawcard to Granite Island, but now they’re increasingly rare. The number of little penguins on the island fell drastically from more than 1,600 to less than 20 during the early 2000s.
*If you do plan on visiting and you spot any penguins, please remember to not shine a light or torch at them (it can blind them for many days), be quiet (loud noises can disorientate them from getting back home) and stay at least 5 metres away from them.
The Kaika 45 min Trail walk takes you on a journey around Granite Island Recreation Park. Granite Island is one of the most recognised ecological attractions in Victor Harbor due to its unusual granite formations with crashing white waves, flora and fauna, and elevated views that provide outstanding panoramic coastal views.
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching :)
