No Hand ever does it, and it still works! Crazy! But good info! I used to be a Pro-pipe, dope brush Operator! 😆

The very first string of "slower taper, double-shouldered" XT57 was run on ARCO Ya-13 Project offshore China. 20+ Years ago. Waiting for flight from SZ to BJ; I got called to check the galling problem reported from the rig and changed flight to Hainan Island arriving mid-night. Flown to Transocean Rig next morning and found that due to delay of the project, the crew instructed on running the Double-Shouldered Tool Joints were elsewhere. Caught the crew using casing dope instead of the Drill Pipe Dope. The tool pusher was also trying to race and the crew from Southern China were smaller in frame to handle the bigger tongs, slips and heavier pipes resulting in very sloppy doping practice. Probably would have killed this XT product line at the birth if this First Test String of Joint Effort between ARCO and Grant Prideco failed to perform.
