Great video! I was brought up in West Bridgford Notts in the 1950's. As a child I would regularly walk through the fields at the back of my house to the Grantham Canal at Gamston Bridge and walk by the canal. I well remember seeing the swans swimming there. Some neighbours had a punt and I and a friend planned to steal it away one day and sail on the canal on it, but we never dared. A real trip down memory lane, and I appreciated learning more about the canal route.

Great journey. I live in Bristol, but from Newark originally. I open canoe Hou Prospector 16. Im looking to paddle the Canal from Nottingham to Grantham and then joining the Witham at Grantham and then..... paddling to the Wash. 🤙🤟🤙🤘 do you know if the Canal, is now clear of weeds etc, to paddle, along that section. also.. do you know, if the river Devon, flows to the Grantham Canal. can't tell on Google Earth or OS maps.. it apparently runs under the Canal??!!! if it does - then I will paddle from Newarks Farndon Mariner on the Trent up the Devon. glad for any help/ info you can give me.. Also.. be sound me Duck, if you join me on a paddle section. ( make a brilliant video for your channel) top tip. when out an about on Yr grid iron and get a flatty ( Newark slangs coming back), ask at - a vehicle garage.. super top tip. always carry a fatty repair kit 😉😅🤣 more videos, and I like 👍and you get my subscription ✅🤘🤙🤟

its so lush and green looking. i have cycled and even stealth camped on the grantham canal. as my channel name suggests i am nottingham based. i intend on cycling the whole canal this year without any camping gear. i might use a campsite on the east of nottingham as a base camp and take a train to grantham.

Good call! need to look into the possibility of converting to the tubeless option. I have just fitted a new set of continental tubes with a backup tube that fits in a little pouch under the seat so will see how they go! Any recommended routes around Grantham?

@@jhoutdoors3906 yeah yo can convert really easily and cheaply these days. I will never go back to tubes. And there's some nice bits around the vale of belvoir. I've not lived in grantham too long so still finding new trails.

Yikes, I've never seen someone loosen a valve with pliers, tighter isn't always better, that might have caused your leak. Getting out of London on my bike has been great with the lockdown, it gives you a lot of freedom. I switched to Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB tyres a while back and no more punctures either.

Lol the leak on that tyre was coming from the valve I tried getting it tight with the pliers earlier as a last ditch effort but it didn't work 😬

@@jhoutdoors3906 Ah, that explains it. I've never liked presta valves.

It's a nice ride. Shame it's covered in weeds and in some points it's completely dry. No way you can kayak the whole way
