That is a pretty sweet mower. I always try to lift with my back but good reminder.

It's an old one too. Yea, if you don't lift with your back, you may injure yourself. Be smart, be safe!

Don't forget to add a jerking, twisting motion while lifting with your back

@Hillsidelanscapemanagement haha yes. Best to get into position and say "oh this is going to hurt" then give her all you got, knowing full well you haven't worked out properly in advance for this movement.

Thanks for the video of raising & lowering the deck. I always had trouble getting the latch levers to reset, raising & lowering the height lever worked very well. Thanks for your help.

I don't use a mower very often but Diesel is my fuel of choice, whether veggie oil like my truck, van and generator, or regular Diesel like in my skid steers or dozer. It sure is nice to be able to tip up the deck instead of having to take it off of the mower like I did with my Scag. Have a feeling your wife may be a little resistant to ride around on that Diesel powered machine.

Haha yea, my son will definitely win that one. Diesel is the way to go. I love Diesel powered machines. I've had nothing but good luck/experience with the Grasshopper. Hopefully that continues. I always appreciate your comments/input. I know when I post you will always be chiming in! 😀

Thanks for the video. We inherited my dad's gas version and the written directions are awful. This made everything clear and it was easy. Well maybe everything but the actual lifting. Thanks again.

I'm glad it was helpful! Yea, the decks are well built which means they are heavy!

They have a 'powerfold' option which equates to pressing a button. Not sure if you can add that aftermarket or not.

Any videos on the 928D? Just bought one and I have no idea on these. First one I have. Trying to do all the maintenance on it.

No, not currently. That's my buddy's mower. Most should be pretty similar. Check out the below link for parts/diagrams. This shop is pretty good. www.the-mower-shop-inc.com/

They improved this by atleast 2004 & much easier to lift manual deck. No disconnecting drives shaft. And pulling down wheel. I come to like the manual deck because I need to change heights quick for ditches.

I cannot get the deck height lever to move easily on my 721, it takes a lot of effort. Any ideas why it’s so hard to adjust the height? As well, any idea why I’m getting clumps on the right side opposite the chute? I’ve waited a few years to see someone with this mower.

Do you mean as far as folding the lever to fold the deck or just raising/lowering the deck in general? Have you oiled that pivot point at all? Clumps may mean your deck need scraped out. You also may want to see what blades are on there. Grasshopper makes some specific 'high lift' blades that are meant for these mower decks.

Why is it so hard to adjust the height lever on these things any ideas that are easier

Simply because they are so well built/heavy. Thanks gravity! The 72 decks have foot pedals to help raise and lower the cutting height. They also have a powerlift option that is an electronic way to raise and lower the cut height. I'm not that fancy ha
