On this morning I was driving around Rochester with my buddy Pat. 2 Guys were hitchhiking ~ we pulled over to see where they were going. We re heading to Syracuse to see the Dead at the Carrier Dome! This is before the Internet, so you had to pay attention when it came to the Grateful Dead Tour 🦜. We said jump in, we ll take you there! Waking up that morning not even knowing the Dead were in our Orbit, then being in a crowd of 37 thousand dancing, getting crushed, getting blown away by the Dead 🙈. What a Day 💚💚💚.

@@cyclesmoking hey man, Bobby’s the ring leader these days and for whatever reason he likes em slow and sloppy lol but hey don’t we all...sometimes anyways. I heard them doing sound check at the gorge last time they played there and this was one of the songs they were playing....you could tell Jon Mayer was leading the band cause they were playing fast and funky. It sounded amazing...what I was able to hear of it anyways...me thinks there’s a good chance that, if Bobby hangs his Spurs up & if dead n’ company keep playing without him in some form, Jon Mayer will become the band leader and we will get to see/hear the best fucking Grateful Dead tribute band that there ever was. Totally possible, then again the sun could micro nova, flipping the earth’s magnetic field in the process and breaking the crust free from its current “locked in” state....causing the oceans to wash over the west coast and east coast (as well as the rest of the earth) volcanoes to erupt everywhere, mountain ranges to be pushed up where there was once only water as far as the eye could see and whole chunks of continents to disappear beneath the waves. So yeah if that happens then no dead and co I would think...then again with its new place near the equator, Iceland would be an amazing Arctic turned tropical paradise to hold the first post cataclysm dead and co playing in the sand concert...amirite????!!!!???

Wow!! Without a doubt the best Jack Straw I've ever heard. Alpine Valley 1987 is another ripping 1st set closer (my former favorite until I heard this). I was there and the whole first set the volume wasn't loud enough. Right before Jerry starts shredding soundboard cranks the volume way up. It was incredible. Every recording I've heard of that show the levels go off the charts at that moment. I'm sure all the tapers were scrambling to lower the levels. That one is awesome but nothing like this one. Jerry justs keeps taking it higher and higher. The band was struggling to keep up :)

@@thomassus4444 Didn't happen often, but when they played what was usually a set opener as a set closer it was huge. Can never forget the 3rd or 4th show I ever saw, at University Hall in Charlottesville VA (1982) they closed the 2nd set with Bertha - usually an opener - it was awesome! That show also had a Jack Straw opener, and a High Time and a Lazy Lightnin/Supplication too. General Admission for the floor - no chairs or seats, everybody standing shoulder to shoulder packed in fairly tight. Hot as hell by the second set, at one point a guy came through the crowd with a huge cardboard box full of ice and people were just taking a few cubes each and loving it... they were like gold nuggets!
