Gratin dauphinois
“Le gratin dauphinois” is a very popular dish in France. It is simple to make.
For 6 persons:
1 kg potatoes
250 ml single cream + 100 ml milk or 250 ml double cream + 150 ml milk
1 onion
1 clove of garlic
Grated cheese
salt and pepper
To start, peel and cut the potatoes into slices.
Once cleaned, put them in a large pot of water.
While waiting for them to cook, take an onion, peel it and cut it into small pieces or strips. Brown them in a pan. Then place them in a gratin dish.
When the potatoes are cooked, drain them using a colander.
Arrange the potatoes on the onions.
Grate some cheese and sprinkle it over the potatoes.
Cut a clove of garlic into pieces. Sprinkle them over the potatoes and grated cheese.
Add liquid cream mixed with milk
Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg powder.
Place the dish in the oven and set the oven to between 180 degrees and 200 degrees.
Leave to cook for 20 to 30 minutes.
You can enjoy this dish with a good green salad.
