I'm a township operator . Driveways are the biggest pain . Sometimes you have to cut them back so the road can drain . It takes extra time and upsets some people. But it has to meet the edge . The miles of good shaped road in between are good blade days .. lol.

It seems like every new driveway or farm approach is built out into the road with the entrance higher than the road. Very annoying from a graderman here in Alberta. Been running grader for 17 years and I'm always learning something new. Best job in the world; at least my world. Your content is great! Keep 'em coming.

Obviously everyones terrain is different we here in South Dakota are relatively flat on the east side and have mountains terrain on the west side of the state this manual covers the basic stuff to help an operator picture what a road is to look like thanks for watching!

I have to not sure whether laugh or shake my head about the when they are spreading gravel to get a uniform windrow and spread it when they lay it down... i was out doing thst one day and from our boss got my butt CHEWED for doing that. I was told an I wrote directly " don't be out there grading right behind the trucks when they are laying down gravel, when they dump its pretty even so just leave it alone"...... it was all right in the center of the road pretty much, which yes you do want some there but want it spread over the entire road.

It’s crazy some people think that just fly dumping gravel on a road and not putting a blade on it I pretty much won’t let my gravel haulers fly dump anymore I simply have them windrow it and then I put it where I want it makes my job easier for suer.

When your running ice picks/sand picks do you still follow the same moldboard pitches? Found when I had my rolled back to far it was putting excessive wear on the back side of the.... pick rails? the thing that holds my pick lol
@graderman140m

When running the rotating bits your correct you can’t roll your blade back to far otherwise you will wear you the holders I normally run with the bits straight up and down that seems to work the best for me hopefully that answers your question thanks for watching!
