Blade's got a great visual design, but he's my least favorite of the main stage bosses mechanically, even though fighting him casually is still enjoyable. Not as oppressive as Cable as long as you play by his rules, but has the greatest propensity for randomly and unpreventably* repositioning into you of any boss in the game.
*12/28/2023: His movement patterns are erratic but he will never fly directly into you if you're standing perfectly still unless it's his dedicated swooping attack.
There's a lot of shimmying in this fight. The sharp projectiles can't be grabbed with the hook or destroyed with basic attacks, but can be cancelled out by throwing the round, hazard-creating projectiles or the spikes they create. It's safe to challenge him with the throwables; just be wary of jumping too high since that puts you at risk of getting bumped. Be careful about jumping in the center of the screen; he flies there when he's doing the block push attack, so lingering there increasing the odds you'll take contact damage. Easy damage if you stay on the ground, though.
If he's EVER offscreen, keep your ears open for the audio cue for his low swoop across the stage.
A lot of my failed attempts were from being greedy and trying to sneak in damage in the air; not even hooks are safe when there's no way to tell where he's going until he's bumped you...
