I hear massive attack, bjork, dj shadow, mf doom, so much influence from this that carried over to later artist. This is mind blowing this is from the 70's

This might be from the later 2012 stuff actually Edit: Actually I don’t know and I can’t tell, there’s stuff from this band from the 70s, 90s, and 2000s and it’s way too confusing to tell which era it was made in.

@@dmtea because the other people who were in the project came back around the 90s to do something with it, then in 2012 I think they released a new album using some of the old material they had sitting around from the 70s.

I recall smoking joints, followed by a very deep conversations in my parked car and me saying to him, "You are sure to hit it big!" I whispered that into his ear when we hugged at his big show at the Whitney Biennial. At the start, It was obvious to everyone he had the magic. That dude really worked it hard, Constantly Creating Original Art. He was a very possessed, Artist Exploding... When we first met he was painting T-shirts, selling them on the street, then SNAP Whitney show and then a big loft in the heart of SoHo. The last time the two of us hung out togeather was in his BIG loft - LOTS OF ART EVERYWHERE and many Talked for hours about poetry-art-the sounds of letters. The last thing I said to Samo as I was leaving his loft was, "Dude, I lov U He smiled". - Tom Zatar Kay

Many books can be written about this experience alone....one book can be titled: A lost black kid inna white jungle." 14th Street, in Manhattan, from river 2 river and It's southern parameters is one of the most (spiritual) dangerous (hubs) streets in the world. lt is not a place 4 a young homeless blk kid with a long dic* wanting 2 be an artist like his lover A.W. lt's just not the place if you wanna maintain a sense of sanity and dignity. His life is/was a lesson 4 the naive. RIP

I think this version is from the movie "Basquiat" but was recorded by the remnants of Basquiat's band Gray. It's also sort of further complicated since the band never made any actual records until after his death.
