Just wow! And Frankie was mostly deaf and had to watch for cues from Lionel. That's why he started singing, "Is the word" at 3:08. And then right before both Lionel and Frankie sang, "Is the word", you can clearly see Lionel giving him his cue and then pointing out in the audience to help Frankie see the teleprompter giving him his cue. Then Lionel left his side and then tapped him on the shoulder and told cued him again. Then at 4:11 you saw Lionel again pointing out to the prompter out there to let Frankie know it was time to sing again. And then once again, Lionel gave Frankie the "1-2-3" cue, and Frankie looked up at him to know they were back into the normal part of the song. I got all of that from my father, who worked on the Midnight Special since day one. But man, what a performance. BOth

Just fantastic. Can honestly say I've never seen Frankie sing this live, and I'm 55, which is to say I was 10 when Grease came out in '78. But to do it with the Commodores. And my daughter walked by and said, "Oh cool. Rusty from the Sopranos!" And I thought, "Yup, I raised her right."

Around the same age. Saw FV live in Tel Aviv a few years ago. He was in his early 80’s, and was still pretty damn good! As we were leaving we saw some of the ushers waking out and one girl, couldn’t have been more than 20, was singing “Sheeeeeery Bayayaby” at the top of her lungs. I turned to my wife and “that’s probably the first time she’s ever heard that song - but now it’s going to be stuck in her head for weeks!” 😂

The band sounds absolutely incredible. I was just a kid at this time, and would always hear The Commodores, Kool & the Gang, Earth, Wind, & Fire at the roller rink. I loved them all back then, but in my youth didn't realize I was listening to the Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart of popular music. All three groups - brilliant songwriting and sublime musicianship. Barry Gibb was surely smiling ear-to-ear when he heard this.

Been enjoying being the kid that grew up (1971) in the time when music was so damn good , I hate to feel like the best has been but the majority of the stuff out today can't hardly have any chance to play with the Bad Company, ELO , Fleetwood Mac and Reo ......last sidenote to the story is many years ago I was living with a woman who got us front row seats to see Mr.Valli late 1998 - early 1999 , as well as the invitation to get to meet him and the band backstage. A great time, totally experienced a whole lotta energy from the second we were in their world and the entire time I could see the expression of Mr.Valli looking at my girlfriend because of how much she looked like her father who grew up with Frankie and the coolest part was in the area of New Jersey the other two of the four best friends that are none other than Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci with the 4th being Sal Valano. He was a great guy and just didn't get the Hollywood that his lifelong best friends did but before Mr. Pesci broke through both he and Mr. Valano opened up a salon where they both gave the ladies of NJ the full service which without the backing from a family business that I will leave the name respectfully out of the truth and before My Cousin Vinny , Home Alone and getting a phone call from Marty & Bob with the character of his dream in Goodfellas about the coolest 2nd career and I still have a picture of Joe & Sal styling and smiling back in Jersey 🏌️

When I hear “Grease” I naturally think of John Travolta - I’d rather think about Olivia Newton John (ONJ) if you know what I’m sayin’ - which makes me think of “Saturday Night Fever” (SNF). But Travolta had an amazing run in the 70s if you think about it: “Welcome Back Kotter” (WBK) - I saw Gabe Kaplan do standup live once and he obviously is not the president of the “John Travolta Fan Club” - and then SNF snd then “Grease.” Travolta did “Staying Alive” a bit later which was panned although I think it did good box office receipts perhaps. Anyways Travolta, and Franki Valli, we’re “IT” in the late-70s.
