this is Hive #1, the weak hive that is now flourishing, just look at that brood pattern. I treated all my hives this weekend with formic pro, to treat for Varroa destructor mites, this year my 3rd in beekeeping, I have found that treating for Varroa to be a bit stressful as the last thing I want to do is make the situation worse, I will remove the strips on Sept 12th hoping to have really knocked their numbers down. I am aware that there are risks involved with this medication, it has a strong odour that I tried not to breath in, I think Id suggest wearing an organic respirator while handling, I used my bee gloves instead of nitrile which is recommended, I have since purchased a new pair of bee gloves as these were getting gummed up with propolis anyway.
