For me Peter Roberts is by far and away the very greatest of any brass player I've ever heard, the man makes me melt, I dissolve into my own tears every time I hear Flowerdale! A true phenomenon, just wonderful! 👍👏🌟

I discovered this video senior year in high school in 2010. And here I am almost 11 years later. I went on to study trumpet in college. I didn’t finish my degree but I never lost my love for the instrument. I always imagined that he held his trumpet there after the last note until he finally heard it stop singing after it bounced off the back of the auditorium.

this solo is completely beautiful and the band is fantastic as well. But, sorry if I am missing something here, but what on earth is the conductor doing ( i believe it is David King??) I know that the conductors job is not necessarily always to keep time but his arm movements do not bear any resemblance to the beautiful music happening in front of him. The video is certainly not out of sinc. but I cannot understand his role here..... Can someone please clarify.

Try one and find out, it,s harder to play the high notes on a sop, much harder. Also try the pic trumpet and you will find out.

Amazing solo. The conductor sucks, but that is another element of what makes this amazing:the ability to run without the conductor. The subtle contrast of dynamics, and use of different articulations and vibrato makes this a superb solo. And the band brings out the sound. tone and recording quality are amazing, and i love the solo.
