It was good to see WW1 tanks. I have apic of my grandfather and his mates relaxing in uniform in front of Tank 5, circa 1920 or so. He and his mate had taken and driven away a steam roller and given a choice by the magistrates 'Army or Borstal' they chose the Army!

@@chrisbaker3404 I heard the radio show while it was on air last summer and I thought it was marvelous that Martin Oliver the son of the show's founder Mike Oliver did such a great job of keeping the show alive on Radio, It took me back several years because Me and my Dad used hear the Radio show in Dad's old car as we was getting near the Great Dorset show site, then a few years ago Dad's old car was taken off the road and he had to get a new one and because of that we could not hear the Radio show any more.

In my opinion we had it made right there. Steam was all you need. More work than diesel, but no where near enough to complain about, the exercise is good for you, and also there has never been a greater leap for workers than that of a fully hand-driven farm to a steam tractor. Hand to steam was a Grand Canyon sized leap while steam to anything else was a skip, and at best, a jump. Old ways get shamed for companies can benefit from mass production and automation. Even back in the days of steam man's greatest predator was the company mill manager.

apart from the warm weather the 2019 Great Dorset steam fair was definitely better than the 2018 one which was simply rotten because of the bad rainy weather. while Me and my Dad was walking through the food tent we then decided what we was going to have for tea that evening and we went and asked a lady who was cooking Burgers if her Burgers had any Lactose in them and the Lady said that she did not know and she called someone on her mobile phone and when she came back a moment later we had a bad experince because the lady thought that i was also Alergic to wheat and would have given me my Burger with out a bread bun if Dad had not her that I was not Alergic to Bread. because of how rude the Lady had been my Dad went else where for his tea that Night.

They're contemporary vehicles, and it's normal to see some early internal combustion power at these events. In fact it gets even weirder when you consider that some of those traction engines are younger than the tanks!

@Chris Baker The GDSF decided to celebrate the 14-18 Great War and its 100th Anniversary. I went along in 2014 to see the display and again in 2018 and they had added to the trench system over the 4 years which had become quite impressive, as were the WW1 tented and vehicle displays. Nice video.

Who has this? ORIGIN OF SOAL From Middle English sol, sule, from Old English sol (“mud, wet sand, wallowing-place, slough, a mire or miry place”), from Proto-Germanic *sulą (“mire, mud”), from Proto-Indo-European *sūl- (“thick liquid, muck”). Compare sully. More at soil.
