I missed the sale again! Hope Pattern Emporium continues the 50% promotions. I’ll remember to buy this pattern when it comes around again. The tummy area is always a concern for me and the designer factored this into design is important. Karina, you talk about (depending on pattern) bra straps showing, back flab, low cut, boob bounce, tummy control is invaluable, which is why I watch your video before making a purchase. Hang in there, re: water supply. Going through the same thing in my area, going on three months and we had a heat dome.

Okay okay OKAY... Ordered, even though I don't wear dresses. It's that cap sleeve I'll hack into my fav tee. Like the look of the dress with the Downtown. Also ordered..... Sooooo maybe I might need that ONE dress?

Very pretty (as usual). You produce the prettiest garments. Your water issue, is a great excuse to go to the nearest Town 's Hotel, and have a short 'Stay-cation' hot shower 😃🚿

Sadly it's not an option to do that ($$$). I had my 1st normalish shower today just shorter because we are getting about 1/2 of the regular water amount.

Sorry to learn about your water issues. Hope this will be resolved soon and you can go back to normal ☘ I bought the dress and I am looking forward to sewing. Where I live it is very fresh and breezy. Therefore sewing and wearing a sleevless is quite brave 😂 I used your affiliate link of course. I always do that when I decide to buy a pattern you introduced. I enjoy your skilled and lovely videos very much. Thank you ❤

When I sew slippery woven fabrics, I heavily starch them as part of the pre-shrinking process, They handle much easier then, and the starch rinses out in warm water after the garment is finished. I haven't tried the starch on knits because I don't sew with them much, but it seems to me that heavy starch would discourage curling. I found old fashioned powder starch is a local supermarket, but spray starch would do.

I have some spray starch but I had to import it and I only use it when I make bias tape.

@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I haven't tried it but I have heard of people dunking their fabric into unsweetened gelatine. Dissolves in warm water.

I love the shape of this dress. I was a bit concerned about it clinging around my tummy, but I bought it anyway and I'm glad I did. In the instructions, they tell you how to shorten it above the waist so it flares out higher up to give more tummy room. You do this on the toile (muslin) to get the right fit and then adjust the pattern. I'm looking forward to making a midi or maxi version for my holiday next year.

ITY is a nightmare isn't it but the end result is so lovely to wear. I always think sewing is not a race, just relax and take your time....I agree with you. I've had this pattern since 2018 and never made it 🤦♀️🤷♀️ you've inspired me to get my pattern out.

Lovely video as always Karina. How do you cope with pre preparation of all the pdf patterns? It's such a lot of work printing, taping and cutting out the pattern pieces before you actually get to cutting out the actual fabric? I'd love to know how you do this. Maybe you can make a video about it. You're a super woman doing all that preparations off camera

It takes me a few minutes and I do it while listening to music or a podcast. I do this ALOT. I think designers (owners) should create content about their pattern assembly though and they do. They are all a bit different and I don’t want to dabble in that. I prefer the sewing.

Gorgeous make as always! I will definitely be trying the cap sleeve option. Bought the pattern with your link right when I saw your video! Question for you: how do you know when to add reinforcement to a shoulder seam (knit interfacing or clear elastic, etc). You didn't mention that you did it for this make, so i wasn't sure if you always reinforce this area on a knit or if there is some tips and tricks to know when it is recommended and when it is not needed? Thanks!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
19 күн бұрын
I typically only reinforce when there is a sleeve or if sleeveless when the fabric has very poor recovery (not in this case).

I don't see cup sizes listed on the pattern. I know you use a stretchy knit but will fit appropriately from small to very large busted women?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
20 күн бұрын
Theres no cup sizes here. Because it’s a knit that stretches at least 50% it should be ok. One minor change you can try is add a little extra length to the center front of the skirt :)

Do you still have to cut the neck band on the bias when using the very stretchy knit?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
20 күн бұрын
The knit band is **never** cut on the bias. I say that because you wrote "do you still have to cut" as if it's something I have said I do or that it's the right thing to do. When you cut knits on the bias, you lose all the recovery of the knit, so it's always cut normal and straight.
