The great Indian bustard is a large ground bird with a height of about one meter.
With a horizontal body and long bare legs, This bird is among the heaviest of the flying birds. It lives mostly in deserts and is considered the Flagship grassland species.
It is considered India’s most Critically Endangered Bird and is listed as
Critically Endangered - IUCN Red List

In Schedule I - Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
As a conservation measure, Project Great Indian Bustard has been launched by the Rajasthan government to construct breeding enclosures for the species.
