As always, the Captain is responsible for protecting his/ her command. Fast boats are like mosquitoes, always a bother but usually no harm. Stay safe.

Some local knowledge for you. The Dock at 1:16 is a fueling dock. There are 2 ferry services running in the area. The NC ferry service runs an auto carrying ferry from Southport to Fort Fisher. The Bald head island ferry is passenger only. Glad you got out of Southport before the storm. Safe Journeys

We boat some in the Wrightsville Beach area and it is always busy but a very nice place to visit. Another fun video you guys, smooth sailing and best wishes!!

I wouldn’t worry about sending the key back, Southport Marina was destroyed by the hurricane. You have some of the last pictures of the boats in the wet slips. My boat was in a dry rack and suffered no damage but the damage to the marina and the boats is overwhelming. Best of luck to both of you and stay safe

hey rev and Sam. getting toward the end, glad and sad been great watching you and all the information. getting a 1953 40' Richardson to do the loop. looking into electronics. You make it look all too easy, funny how the pilot comes out of you lol. Can you give me your opinion on what is really needed, maybe even a video on it. thanks for all the great info and laughs. Stay safe and keep having fun.

Oops I forgot to say electronics needed to do the loop
@WhatYachtToDo
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for following us. The basics are all that is needed for the loop. A good plotter that can tie to an autopilot and can import routes from your phone or iPad. No need for a radar if you don't have it already. You can do the loop without an autopilot, but I would not want to do it - too much work. Cheers, Sam (I will try to cover this in an upcoming video).

Long pier at 1m17s is the Archer Daniel Midland ship unloading pier at Southport, NC. It is not a ferry terminal. The Bald Head Island Ferry terminal is in the Southport marina area. Enjoy all your videos.

The Bald Head Island ferry actually docks at Deep Point Marina located about 3000 feet south of the ADM dock. Deep Point is owned by Bald Head and was designed and built by them in the early 2000’s.

I have been following you on AIS and must congratulate you on crossing your wake ! Thanks for your excellent record of your journey. They have been a big help in showing what the loop is all about. Strangely, I have come to the conclusion that the loop is not for me - I would much rather cruise the Great Lakes, Erie canal and Trent-Severn and in a couple of years the Pacific Northwest. Have a great time on your second loop
