Construction began on this 3.5-inch gauge fine scale model in the 1920s or 30s but was never entirely completed. It was intended to represent GNR locomotive engineer H.A. Ivatt's new Atlantic (4-4-2) compound built at the Doncaster Works in 1905; No. 292 was the first of three GNR compounds from that period. The model has an early Smithies (water tube) spirit-fired boiler and single cylinders actuated by Walchaerts' valve gear with exposed valve spindles. It appears to have never been steamed.
