The breathtaking beauty of the Smokies has to be seen in person to be believed. As good as the pictures and videos you'll find on the internet are, I'm sorry to say they just don't do it justice. It's as if these mist-enshrouded forests are literally enchanted. I actually had a mystical religious experience there when I was a kid, and I want to be buried there when I die.

I once visited the church in 6:26. It was a random afternoon on a weekday, and I could hear a bunch of people (mostly women) inside singing a hymn. It was one of the most beautiful hymns I had ever heard, and there they were, singing it in one of God's most special places, the Smokies! It was definitely a day I will never forget!

for me america is the most beautiful country in the world in relation to the diversity of its states. no house more than 10/20/100 km around, which is impossible in France, or even inconceivable. There is no longer the equivalent of 100 km2 of uninhabited desert in France, there are dwellings everywhere, everywhere. The last desert place, is called The "Larzac Plateau" that I recommend to all Americans if you come to France, it's in the center south of France. the chapel palmer is beautifull in the forest

I went to see the wonders of the Smokys and found a girl. She was a wonder. Loved her for 60 plus years. High in her ramparts her education in her tiny school was more than equal to my private schooling in my private, privileged, mid Atlantic education. That shocked me. Her beauty shocked me. Her straight and narrow view of life shocked me. She held me to the narrow path for more than 60 years. I had to lay her to her rest up on Water Rock Knob, NC. I miss her something awful.

Depends on where you go. At low elevation, it might still be hovering around 16 degrees celsius during the day, but it'll likely be colder. At higher elevations, it'll almost certainly be freezing.
