The Great South West Walk is an Australian hiking trail tucked away near Portland in the south-west region of Victoria (on the Country of the Gunditjmara, the Traditional Custodians of the land) near the South Australian border, Australia. There is a choice of 250km or 262km which is what I did via Mt Richmond.
The trail has four equally spectacular parts: the tall forests of Cobbobonee, the tranquil Glenelg River, the beaches of Discovery Bay and breathtaking cliffs and rocky capes.
Each campsite has a water supply, fire pit, toilet, outside table and a two sided hut with a table and bench seats.
Thankyou to the Friends of the GSWW who maintain the track. Whoever you meet everyone knows about the trail and has walk some of it, it has a real community ownership about it.
