This song has such a powerful message. Thanks for doing this one. My other favorite songs from the great Tim McGraw are When She Wakes Up, One of These Days, Just To See You Smile, Can’t Be Really Gone, I Do But I Don’t, Angry All the Time, Grown Men Don’t Cry, Back When, My Little Girl, Everywhere, You Had To Be There, and If You’re Reading This.

Such a great song by Tim McGraw. This was big in the 90s which was my favorite decade for country music!! I really haven't always been a country music fan but something about 90s country is unbelievable. Hope you check out more

Tim McGraw is one of the greatest of all time. How you don't feel his voice. You are one of the few if only music reactor who doesn't cry or have to take a break. I'm surprised actually it didn't hit you hard "Live Like You Were Dying" & "Humble and Kind" are perfect examples. Tim McGraw has had big country hits in the 90s 2000s and 2010s. "Don't Take The Girl" is considered one of the greatest country songs ever & the music video is legendary.

More deeply meaningful songs of his are If You're Reading This Humble and Kind Live Like You Were Dying These I think are better musically(they are later in his career) and have a better example of his voice.

I think you tend to like 'New Country' more. Not a bad thing, just your preference! I like Country music from the 90s, 80s, and 60s the most!

This was 1994, one of his first hits. He is married to Faith Hill, also an amazing country singer, for over 20 years. They both now star in a show called 1883, a break off show from Kevin Costners' "Yellowstone". If you haven't heard it, you must listen to Tim's 'Humble & Kind'. Just perfect! This tune is 'old country' but Tim has a lot of more modern & spunkier music you would like too.

You want a story that will knock you off your feet lyrically and musically? Two words - Whiskey Lullaby - by Brad Paisley and Allison Krauss. It has EVERYTHING - the storytelling, amazing voices, very simple guitar background. But also love this song - always a tear jerker. You should check out Fly Away by Time. A lot of fun - and he has kids singing in the background.

I listened to this and other Tim McGraw songs growing up (plus Shania Twain, of course). It's all nostalgia for me now, so I understand why people who may not have been exposed to this kind of music when they were young may not enjoy it as much. I also prefer the newer sounds of country music wise.

I like your honest take, but for the really good songs in Country music you have to go way back to the 1960s and 70s. Singers like Tammy Wynette (she has a tear in her voice on every song) DIVORCE, Apartment #9, and WOMANHOOD. Bill Anderson (he whispers his words) I LOVE YOU DROPS, Still. He was also a great song writer for other--mostly women--singers 'The Hurtin' All Over', and Once a Day. The words to these two songs are what Country Does best--as in this song the Don't Take the Girl line has a different meaning every time. Finally, you might like I Believe in You Don Williams, and of course The Blind Man in the Bleachers.

Funny that you would say that your five; or seven top (recent) Country artists that do it for you----do absolutely nothing for me. I am a solid classic (pre '90s) Country fan. If a modern country song comes on, I just tolerate it until the classic ones return.

Ya, its such a different style. I think its just the more modern melody choices they use resonates more with me musically :)
