I dobn't know who this singer is. he does pretty good and it is a full version of the song. I prefer Frankie Laine, but I have only ever heard him do the full version on the movie.

yes and one of Star Trek's episodes is set on October 26th 1881 and is just about the famous gunfight and "Bones" is in. The title of episode is some like "the shadow of a gun" but I'm not sure.

Actually there is an episode of Star Trek where he plays a part in OK Corral. The problem is he is on the Clanton side . The Earps in that episode play the more realistic side as the criminals

He is. He did a lot of westerns. Deforest Kelly was also in a pilot for a Medical Examiner that was not unlike Quincy.

river2walk, I think the singer could be Johnny Western or Tex Ritter. On the ok corral theme, why not try posting the theme from "Hour of the Gun" composed by Jerry Goldsmith. This film was also made and directed by John Sturges 10 years after "Gunfight at" and is intended to pick up from where that film left off. The opening sequence of the film is one of the top western cinematic moments and Goldsmith was very proud of his composition.

Frankie Laine sang this song on the film. Rex Titter and every other hasbeen also recorded it later on. It was composed by Dimitri Tiomkin (Exodus etc) Coincidentally, Leon Uris wrote the screenplay - he also wrote Exodus. Not a patch on "Back in the Saddle Again" :-)

Western movies (B westerns) were popular in the 50's because there was a clear delineation between good and evil, right and wrong. The Cold War and othere1950's conflicts were murky and unclear. Korea (was it a war? did we win? Why did we die?) Berlin, the Iron Curtain, .. black-white gave way to grey and nebulous issues. Who was really right? High noon was about the McCarthy era (was communism our enemy? or McCarthy? or both? ) .. (if only all good guys wore white hats..)

Definitely not Lorne Greene (who only ever "spoke" not a singer per se), but a very good professional baritone, great background music and sound effects with the Tiomkin interpretation and an excellent male chorus. No, NOT Frankie but damn good voice and a very good recording, perhaps it was the actual film soundtrack, Frankie did a lot of great "covers".
