Apparently it's an El Nino year which is affecting the Gulf Stream. It's caused all the crap weather this Summer and could be more of a reason why you've not been too successful finding things this year rather than anything you're doing. I've heard mackerel numbers are way down here in Torbay and with that also their predators like blue & thresher sharks. Hopefully we'll have an Indian Summer and things will pick up. Cool vid as always!

I remember fishing off the west coast of Scotland (Loch Broom Ullapool) when I was a kid in my teens. We were trailing coloured feathers off the back of my Uncle's boat which had always been successful, but even the Mackerel weren't taking the bait! Then my Dad said 'let's try something different'. He stuck a bit of foil from some chewing gum wrappers onto each hook and stuck them over the side. Within minutes we were catching. We were even getting two fish (Mackerel) on one hook. It was also the day that I broke my rod... I had hooked something (no idea what!) and was reeling it in, when all of a sudden the rod bent double and after a few moments it snapped. When I eventually reeled in, the bait, trace, weights, my catch etc. had all completely gone. My Dad and Uncle reckoned that is was probably a seal, even though there was no sign of any seals in the vicinity - none of it made sense to me. Bearing in mind that it happened so fast and they hadn't really taken much notice of me struggling - I was actually sitting on the deck hanging on to the rod for dear life at one point! Anyway I'd like to think that I'd hooked a really big fish, possibly a shark - talk about the one that got away! 😲🦭🦈🎣

Interesting adventures on the high seas. Perhaps attach a diving vein to the seal decoy!....get one of those fishing plug baits to see how this engineering will impart a whole new dynamic to the action of the decoy..then transfer the design to the seal decoy. Ask someone in a fishing tackle shop to show you a few models and how the diving vein creates that life-like action. Also while you are talking to him ask about the best way to set a chum trail. It's all about creating that long unbroken( very important) scent trail to the boat..to bring he sharks in. Or check out some chum videos.....I reckon you are someone who will enjoy fishing and the catching of them. Catching sharks will attune yourself more to their totem spirit . This month and the next the oceanic species will be migrating in to our waters. It's all about setting that chum trail across the waters....maybe head out on a charter vessel down Dorset to see the skippers methods....seas are warming... hammerheads moving in. Great Whites well I'm waiting for them to sort out that exponential growth in our grey seal population. There are so many of em they are migrating inland to the private fishing lakes devouring all the stock ruining the livelihoods.....

Pretty certain it’s not GW but there’s is a shark on my channel that I saw while out fishing in South wales one day. Also, I used to have boats like yours before getting the skis, since the U.K. weather isn’t the best you’ll find a ski so much easier to use than a boat! I know they’re not as big but you can go out in any conditions and still feel safe.
