Great white sharks are still full of surprises, even after decades of research. By placing camera tags on sharks in South Africa, Aquarium scientist Dr. Sal Jorgensen and his colleagues discovered that great whites get by with a little kelp and their fronds!
It's long been thought that white sharks avoid kelp forests, but new research using camera tags is revealing never-before-seen white shark behavior. This may have rippling consequences through food webs, as the presence of kelp is thought to act a refuge for the recovering sea otters in California: mbayaq.co/2pnOzpm
