This video should have WAY more views because 1996 is a great cut off point to really illustrate how the NFL HANDCUFFING DEFENSES made it a lot easier for QB's and offenses to break and set records. So, the HOF-level QB's(Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Phillip Rivers, Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, Andrew Luck) who entered the NFL after 1996 will end up having numbers that dwarf the quarterbacks mentioned in this video. You will also have a lot of youngsters thinking that the QB's mentioned in this video weren't that good because they weren't passing for 4,500 Yards and 40 TD's every year which seems to be the norm nowadays.

Also worth mentioning is the tacky gloves that receivers routinely have worn since 2000. A lot of those "impossible" catches are just that without the benefit of those gloves.

@@indy_go_blue6048 Yes, but a lot of the players used stickum. I believe Jerry Rice was the first player (receiver) to wear gloves. I believe they were (scuba) diving gloves. It was around 1985(?).

Absolutely. Even the footballs are different. The game today is tailor made for offenses which is why I always say Tom Brady is the GOAT of THIS era, but he wouldn’t have put up those numbers in Unitas’ day.

Great film, but , man , they were ALL over the place , with these Qb's ? Dawson, Hadl , Brodie needed to be on this list in the 1960's, K. Anderson in the 1970's to early 80's ?Again the AFL got the short stick on these list , like the HOF , too ? That league opened up the games & some of there greats , still ARE NOT in the fame ?

I can recall Fouts' rookie year with the Chargers (Yeah, I'm that old). A Hall of Famer replaced another Hall of Famer, Johnny Unitas. It doesn't happen all the time. By memory, it's only happened three times in my lifetime. San Diego, San Francisco, and (soon to be) Green Bay. The upside with Fouts, he had the best beard in the NFL. He's also one of the best analysts I've watched.

0:08 Respectfully disagree with the late great NFL Films legend Steve Sabol opening statement of the most demanding position in sports being the quarterback position...... I would say it would be the running back position or at least the way the running back position used to be played maybe there might be a little difference now because the every down back mentality has been lost but generally through the history of the NFL there is no position in the history of sports that has demanded more of your soul and body and mind then the running back position you are literally taking your body into a human wall sometimes anywhere between 20 to 30 times a game..... Every week.... Every season... Until you can no longer do it again.....

Tom Brady is the Best Quarterback in the history of football 🏈 & always will be Most consecutive passes without a pass intercepted 2010 unanimous league MVP (36 touchdown passes & only 2 passes intercepted) 50 touchdowns in 2007 5x Super Bowl 🏟 Champion 4x Super Bowl 🏟 MVP Pretty good for a 7th round draft selection out of The University of Michigan

6th round.....pick 199. Anyways....my opinion... Montana is better....accuracy, precision, and better at reading defenses on a naked bootleg or when the pocket breaks down. Brady isnt bad at reading defenses when the pocket breaks down....but not as good as Montana.
