Just played this one-hit-wonder album. The music is far nicer than much of the music of today and takes me back to a time which was far less complicated, more straight. One reefer a year, ( joint, to all you cannabis users today) was prosecuted not the same extravagant amount as today. A fun time, with far less teenage angst.

Us boys would do the same thing walking back and forth to school . And at the soda shops. We would go to the drive ins . Listen to this music and grab our favorite girl. And start dancing in the parking lot . I can't say life was necessarily easier back then . But life and times was simple back then. Then we lost our innocents when the world went crazy . And the reality of the Vietnam war changed our world forever .

I was born in the late 70s... I´ve been sucking in every single bit of the 50s and 60s ever since I first listened to my moms old records and stumbled across Grease with around 12 or so... Freedom in my childhood growing up in the '70s. Rode my bike all over the place, staying out until the street lights flickered on, and the sun had dipped below the horizon. Eight track tapes, record players, knowing all your neighbors, block parties, playing with all the neighborhood kids in their yards and in the streets. Sucking on popsicles, climbing trees, and playing Ghost in the Graveyard. Beautiful memories.

Don’t be overly sad. 70’s was when an angel agreed to marry me. We built a tiny house and had first 2 of 4 children. She has passed now but not from my heart. The 70’s gave us special memories no one can take away. We missed the war and the holocaust and some of us Vietnam so don’t have the horrors others do. 70’s were good to us, treasures deep inside us. Every time we listen to this music others around us may never know our secrets.

This is the music from my teenage years through my early twenties. So many memories good and bad, but the best times in my life and the early 90's. I am just so grateful that I was present during that era and got to experience a way of life (a simple life) that will never be experienced by anyone again. Times will never be like they were which is very unfortunate for young people. Shoot no more cruise, no more keggers, hardly any more dances even, its sad. I guess tik tok, twitter and snapchat is their fun these days. yuk.

Thank you. Fourth of July, 1968, South Lake Tahoe: The Chambers Brothers; The Flamin' Groovies; and a band no one ever heard of...The Santana Blues Band. What a show.

Two more than one hit artists here. Sheb Wooley, the king of monster rock, and the Standells. Great compilation, well done.

@@dicklally1801 Hi Dick. I am 72. I am reasonably intelligent but I can't understand what "treated" means. Also, the CD should have been thrown in the rubbish bin. By the way, I have forgotten more about classic rock music than you have ever learnt.

Rhythm of the Rain was the first record I ever owned at the ripe old age of 9. Played it over and over until it wouldn't play anymore. How my family dealt with it I have no idea. Its an o.k. song I guess. Still, it apparently helped kindle my life long love for music, and for that I'm most grateful.

Well as you might expect, the first one by Del Shannon, Runaway, for most of us didn't consider him a one hit wonder. Searchin, Stranger in Town were great songs in the Shannon style. He wrote his own music and wrote "I Go To Pieces", a top ten hit for Peter and Gordon. Tremeloes, #6, had a big hit "Here Comes My Baby", same year as this one, 1967. Five top ten hits in the UK up through 1970.

You're right, Rick., Del Shannon was not a one hit wonder. In the US, he had seventeen hits in the top 100, four of them top ten hits. Here in the UK, had eight top ten hits plus many others that made the top forty. He was very popular in the UK in the 60s.
