Thanks for the reference at 12:00; that's me..And yes I agree; the b7 is a so powerful chord even if it's not in key... On another topic that you mentioned: I thought I was the only one taking chord progressions from songs and spending most of my time messing with them, mixing and matching😂! It's great to hear that from a professional like you. I often think that there must be something wrong with me since most of my playing time is spent exactly on that and definitely not on sheet music or even lead sheets...So if I were to be asked to play songs at a hotel or something, I probably couldn't do that since my repertoire is very limited...But if they asked me just to play something on the spot and it doesn't have to be a song, I could do that and for a long time too... I improvise a lot...My improvisation is of course nowhere near your playing level, but still...

Hi Adam thank you for another great video. Really enjoyed this one. The I enjoy all your videos lol. I have watched it 2 and will have to watch it a few more times as you impart so much information. Without face-2-face intuition, I feel that I am going to have to keep watching. I seem to get a lot of different things out of the video each time I view it. Will keep this one in my history for sure.

Thinking of the Cm7 as Eb over C is revelation for me. I’ve only been playing for a couple of years but with some good progress. I struggle often with finding and playing such 7 chords but learning something like this I think is the next step in my learning process

Thanks Adam, a wonderful channel that definitely encourages everybody to enjoy keys. Your style of teaching is so laid back and on point. I have fond memories of the intense choir week you put us all through during the CPMM at Trinity in 2019.

That ability to vary things on each chord progression is something that I really struggle with. I get stuck in that loop where it feels safe, for the lack of a better word, to play what is working, even though my ear demands variety. I suppose the trick is to start small, maybe making one small change, and then slowly building from there? Or maybe planning some changes ahead of time, like doing rhythm A first, then rhythm B second pass through, something like that.

Adam you are literally nuts on the keys man. I am really enjoying your content and am so excited to see your future growth. I have about a decade of traditional piano and theory lessons under my belt and have recently gotten back on the keys after a hiatus. I believe you truly have what us kinesiology music students call “true musical literacy” and really appreciate your approach to the piano and music in general. As a result of my vision deteriorating it’s become harder and harder to read sheet music but on the upside my ears have gotten a lot better. I enjoyed this video especially because I also have 4 years of musical theatre voice training under my belt and am trying to learn how to comp pop/rock songs quickly and accompany myself on keys/sing at the same time. Looking forward to seeing what else is coming content wise…

Very interesting Adam. Good job this video is digital, if it was VHS I would have worn the tape out by now - stopping, rewinding, stating, and again, and again, trying to pick up every note and timing. You make Easy look so easy and sound great. I’m still at the stage where I make it look hard and sound crap. Maybe I’ve just left it a bit late starting to learn at 57! And thats definitely an exclamation mark, I’m not quite 571, yet.👴 58 now so heading in that direction.😅 I’ve been learning for just over a year now, and when I get the time, unfortunately memory isn’t so great now so that doesn’t help either. But I do hear learning the keys is beneficial for memory so I'll keep practising. Still in awe that you simply listened and learned Easy as a child, simply by listening. Brilliant. Thank you Adam. Great song. Great instructional video. Thats only still alive because it's not on VHS😅

I’m an older woman, and learned to play piano as a child, but haven’t played much since. Have you created a video, which starts from scratch in terms of explaining chords etc. I can still recall scales etc, but never learned about playing chords. I’ve watched the introduction of several of your videos, they’re excellent in terms of delivery, but way too advanced for me at this time.
